The Children’s Museum is seriously one of our favorite Pittsburgh staples. There is SO much to do here between the indoor waterplay, crafts, soft play, climbing and all of the different exhibits. We spent most of our time on the third floor because Leo could play in the water forever, and right now you can also check out the Eric Carle’s Very Hungry Caterpillar exhibit!

We also grabbed food from the café and the Spaceadilla was such a fun find it’s literally a rocket ship shaped quesadilla and was actually so good, and their homemade Rice Krispy treat was amazing too.

We love having a membership here because every time we come we can do something different. We don’t feel like we have to spend the entire day here to make it worth it, and it’s somewhere Leah genuinely loves coming back to. Definitely one of those memberships I feel like we get so much use out of!

A little hidden gem in South Park that we almost drove right past! 🌿💦

The Cascades is such a pretty little spot to stop and explore, and of course the second Leo saw the water, he was ALL about it 😂

It ended up being one of those simple little stops that your toddler somehow loves more than anything else. We stayed for a bit, played around, listened to the water and enjoyed the scenery.

If you’re spending the day in South Park, definitely add The Cascades to your list! 🤍

Casey’s Clubhouse is one of the top destination playgrounds in the Pittsburgh area (south hills) thanks to its thoughtful inclusive design, creative theme, and variety of play experiences. Local parents consistently recommend it as a favorite! Located inside Boyce Mayview Park, you can pair your visit with walking trails, open green space, and the nearby Miracle League baseball field. In addition to the listed amenities in the video, Family-friendly amenities include

I accidentally planned one of the BEST family days we’ve had all summer. ☀️

Start your morning at Hampton Community Library for storytime (Tuesdays & Thursdays), explore the StoryWalk trail, and let the kids run around one of THREE playgrounds before the pool opens.

Then spend the afternoon at Hampton Community Pool, featuring:
💦 Zero-depth entry
🌈 Splash features
🛝 3 water slides
🏊 Diving boards
🍟 Full concession stand
☀️ Plenty of seating

Non-residents can visit too!
Adults: $20
Kids (3+): $13

Before heading home, stop at Three Little Birds Café (only 8 minutes away). The food was honestly 10/10, they have great gluten-free options, and the cutest kids’ play corner 😊✨shout out to for the rec

📍Save this and follow for more!!!

After visiting a variety of splash pads across the Pittsburgh area i’ve really settled on my top 5! Of course, we haven’t been to them all so the list could change but here’s where we stand!! Have you been to any of the ones on the list yet ?!

If your toddler is obsessed with Daniel Tiger, you need to add Idlewild to your family bucket list!!! Hidden inside of Idlewild Park , We had no idea there was an entire Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood where kids can step right into the world of their favorite show. You can ride Daniel’s Trolley through the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, watch multiple live Daniel Tiger shows throughout the day, enjoy even more performances on the nearby stage, meet Daniel Tiger and friends, explore iconic spots from the show, and even shop at a full fledged Daniel Tiger store filled with themed merchandise. It truly felt like the show came to life, and it was one of the most toddler-friendly experiences we’ve had at an amusement park. If you have a Daniel Tiger fan at home, this is absolutely worth the trip to Idlewild!!!!

I have a new perspective as a parent who does a ton of work online now as a content creator and building a small business. I nnnneeeeedddddd the extra time to spend fully locked in on my to do list and this place is doing it for me!

Beanstalk HQ is so unique!!

While you work from the coworking space, the café, or take meeting calls, certified childcare workers supervise your child in a safe engaging play environment. It isn’t a drop-off daycare or a typical play café—it’s designed to give parents a little breathing room while their kids are cared for and having fun just a room over. && you get to watch them live on screen from wherever you are!! Whether you’re a remote worker, entrepreneur, stay-at-home parent, or just need an uninterrupted hour, this is one of the most innovative family spaces around Pittsburgh!!

Okay Pittsburgh Mommas Im baccckkkk! Another splash pad review. I love hearing how much you guys appreciate the reviews so i drove alllll the way to Tarentum for Deer Lakes Spray Park. This is such a good “pack the toddler bag and go” spot. The spray park is free, open to the public, ADA accessible, and great for little ones who just want to run through the water. It’s located inside Deer Lakes Park, and the park itself has playgrounds, trails, lakes, and picnic areas, making it easy to turn it into a whole afternoon adventure!! Leo had a blast. We brought the stroller and picked up some lunch to enjoy in between playing! If you’re local or feel like exploring something new, this is definitely an all day event !

This splash pad might actually be one of the best summer setups in the South Hills 💦☀️

📍Bethel Park Splash Park

Admission is $3 for residents and $5 for non-residents, and while everyone entering pays, there’s enough here to make a whole morning, afternoon, or evening out of it.

The splash pad is HUGE, fully fenced, and has plenty of spray features plus a lower-water area that’s perfect for younger toddlers and non-walkers. The only thing I’d recommend is bringing Crocs or water shoes since the surface is concrete.

What really makes this spot stand out is everything around it: a playground right next door, turf soccer field, picnic pavilions, shaded seating, tables with umbrellas, bathrooms, and vending machines.

Bonus: Reginald’s Coffee is right there for a morning visit, and if you go on a Tuesday evening, the Bethel Park Farmers Market is a short drive away. We finished our trip with ice cream from and honestly, it was the perfect summer outing.

Monster Jam 2026 We stuck it out through the rain, embraced the mud, and watched Monster Jam put on an incredible show. Leo was completely locked in watching the trucks race &compete. We forgot his headphones, but being outside made the noise much more manageable than we expected and he wasn’t bothered one bit !

The muddy shoes, the giant smiles, cheering for our favorite trucks, and getting to spend the day with our friends Steph, Jack, and Ian made it that much cooler!! Growing up with sisters, I never went to Monster Jam. I never sat in the stands cheering for giant trucks or dreamed I’d spend a Saturday wet from the rain and watching vehicles fly through the air. until I found out i was having a son. It was truly one of those small prayers that came to fruition in such a great way i’m so grateful.

A good reminder that sometimes the days that don’t go according to plan end up being the most memorable ones!!
