Bands like The Blasters, Rank and File, X, Lucinda Williams, Jim Lauderdale, Lone Justice, The Beat Farmers and more were blending punk rock with country music and classic songwriting while doing it on their terms. Venues like The Palomino Club in North Hollywood were a breeding ground for a new sound we know as Cowpunk - born of the rebel spirit of young artists who embraced country music in their own way.
