These may not look super different to you but to me they look completely different! And there was only one single thing I did to her hair today that made all the difference.

The second picture is in March and I loved that color but it was missing something that I couldn’t put my finger on. Later I realized as I was comparing her picture with her inspo picture, it was missing the warmth. I had tried to achieve that warmth with a toner but it just wasn’t quite enough, because the warmth needed to come from the in between.

Enter, a base breaker!!! Something I was taught to fear and never touch! In school we were taught they would turn out ugly and orange. But when used correctly they can help SO much with making a color look natural and blended. A base breaker shifts the natural base of the person’s hair. In this case I wanted her hair that was in between the highlights to be warmer and just ever so slightly lighter.

So I reached out and asked if she could come back! Not because she was unhappy, but because I knew I could make it even better. I tapped her roots with shades EQ in clear to protect them and then I did permanent color gels in clear with 30 volume on the rest! It warmed everything up so beautifully which she prefers and loves ❤️
