Preserving your hair color is much harder in the summer if you're a swimmer, but there are some safe guards you can take to keep your mane safe.

Before you get your hair wet, get your hair wet.
It may sound redundant, but wetting your hair in the shower before getting into a pool, lake, or ocean will be your first like of defense.

Next thing you will want is a leave in product.
I highly recommend a leave in conditioner such as Matrix's Miracle Creater or Redken's One United. You could also use a porosity equalizer such as Matrix's Instacure or Redken's Extreme Anti-Snap.

Adding tap water and leave in products to your hair before swimming help by filling (most of) the hair with protection, before it can be filled with chlorine.

If you forget to protect your hair though, all hope is not lost! Clarifying treatments and take home products, like Malibu's swimmer wellness, are available to save your (hair's) life.
