It’s National Esthetician Day—here’s my story! ✨

On September 8, 2019, I decided to go back to school. (Throwback of me school shopping with my mom)

I loved my first career as an orthodontic assistant—and, fun fact, I still help out sometimes! But I was feeling stagnant and knew I had more to offer. So I enrolled in esthetics school while working full time and raising my young son.

In April 2020, I graduated in the middle of a pandemic. It wasn’t the beginning I had imagined, but I passed both of my state board exams, became a licensed esthetician, and earned my certification as an Oncology Trained Esthetician.

Today, I’m the proud owner of True Skin by Lauren, offering customized skincare services and professional products in a warm, welcoming space where you can feel comfortable, cared for, and confident in your skin.

My passion for oncology esthetics has continued to grow, too. As an Oncology Esthetics Trainer, I now help other estheticians gain the knowledge to safely and thoughtfully care for clients affected by cancer. Being able to care for my own clients while teaching others to do the same means so much to me.

One thing I’ve learned: education doesn’t stop when you receive your diploma. I’m always learning—from continued training, new experiences, and sometimes from the clients in my treatment room. I love that part of this career.
