A turning point happened at a restaurant when Hunter's device died completely mid-meal. When a piece of paper with an alphabet didn't quite work, Hunter flipped it over and drew his own keyboard from memory, using his finger to "type" out what he wanted to eat.

That resourceful moment sparked an incredible idea. Jessica went to a local tattoo shop and had a full QWERTY keyboard permanently inked across her left forearm, complete with letters, a happy face, a sad face, and an "I heart you" button. Now, whenever Hunter's device isn't available, he can tap out what he needs directly on his mother's arm.

After Jessica shared a video of Hunter using the tattoo on Facebook—captioning it, "I'd give my body a thousand scars if it meant giving my son one more way to communicate"—the story went viral with over 100 million views. Tattoo artists around the world have even offered to tattoo the same design for free to other parents of nonspeaking children.

As Maddy Dever, chair of the National Autism Network, noted: "Give a nonverbal child the right tool, and their intelligence and personality often come through in ways people never expected."

"I ride safer with her on the bike. She has a proper dog bag and I know all the risks. She's my number one priority. I'd be lost without her," Paul shared. The pair have been riding together for 10 years now!
