Your 20s can look like freedom from the outside and feel like quiet panic from the inside.

The shame so many young adults carry is not about laziness or weakness. It is about measuring a half-built life against a polished feed, and being afraid to say it out loud.

Launching is not linear. You are allowed to be in process.

This Pride, we're slowing down together.

On June 24, join us at The Preserve at Vassar for a peaceful, affirming walk in nature with members of the LGBTQ+ community. Together we'll connect with the outdoors and explore simple mindfulness practices designed to help us feel grounded, present, and connected to ourselves and each other.
Open to all experience levels. No prior mindfulness or hiking experience needed. We'll move at a relaxed pace with frequent pauses.

When: June 24, 7:00โ€“8:15pm Where: The Preserve at Vassar (parking lot off Vassar Farm Ln., look for the "P") In partnership with Dutchess County Pride Center

Healing from a broken trust is rarely straightforward, especially when it involves someone you love. If youโ€™re feeling confused, guarded, or unsure of your own boundaries, give yourself some grace. Healing is a process of rebuilding trust - not just in others, but in yourself. Lean on your support systems, take it at your own pace, and remember you donโ€™t have to sort this out all on your own. ๐Ÿค

Coming out is rarely a single moment. It is a thousand small ones, where a young person watches to see if home is still safe.

Caregivers who get this right share something in common: they keep choosing their child, even when they do not have all the answers. Using the right name. Believing them. Showing up.

You do not need to be perfect. You need to be present. This Pride Month, we celebrate the families doing the quiet, daily work of affirmation.

Your identity was never the wound. The rejection was.

For LGBTQIA+ folks who grew up in faith communities, religious trauma can leave a particular kind of ache. Shame that was taught. Belonging that came with conditions. A relationship with the sacred that got tangled with rejection.

Healing is possible. You do not have to choose between your spirituality and your identity. And inclusive, affirming faith communities do exist. You do not have to reject your faith to feel whole.

This Pride Month, we honor every journey toward wholeness.

If you are considering an ADHD assessment for yourself or your child, you may be wondering why the process takes several sessions rather than just one appointment. The reason is simple but important.

Symptoms like distractibility, restlessness, and impulsivity can be caused by many different factors, including anxiety, sleep difficulties, trauma, or learning differences. A thorough evaluation is designed to tell these apart. This ensures that the results and recommendations you walk away with are genuinely matched to your specific needs or the needs of your child, rather than being a rushed label.

Our clinicians treat this whole-person view as the cornerstone of psychological testing for individuals at any stage of life. Whether you are looking for answers for your child or seeking clarity for your own executive functioning, we are here to provide a path forward.

Most people come to therapy hoping to feel less anxious, less depressed, or less overwhelmed. Symptom relief is real and it matters. But it is often the beginning of therapy, not the end.

Symptoms usually sit on top of longer-running patterns. When the urgent distress quiets but the pattern underneath is never addressed, those patterns tend to return with the next life stressor. Growth-oriented therapy keeps going a little longer, and the change that comes from that work tends to be the kind that stays.

When life gets hard, most of us reach for whatever has worked before. But any single coping skill, no matter how good, will eventually fall short of what life demands.

A well-rounded toolbox contains different types of skills because different situations call for different responses. Some moments ask for calming the body, others for working with thoughts, others for connection, and others for movement or meaning. Noticing which categories feel underused is often the first step toward expanding your capacity.

If you are ready to build a fuller toolbox, our clinicians can help: https://www.impact-psych.com/contact-us
