Update on Salem 💔

We just got another call from the emergency vet. Right now they believe Salem’s episode may be related to an enlarged heart rather than a primary respiratory issue. They’re running additional bloodwork to help confirm whether this is heart-related, and depending on the results, he may need a heart echocardiogram/ultrasound next.

This has all happened so fast and has honestly been terrifying. Seeing him panting, drooling, and struggling earlier today was one of the scariest moments of our lives. We rushed him to the ER as quickly as possible, and thankfully they were able to stabilize him.

We still don’t have all the answers yet, but we’re trying to stay hopeful while they continue testing and monitoring him overnight.

Our sweet cat Salem is currently in the emergency vet hospital fighting for his health. What started as a scary emergency turned into him needing overnight hospitalization, oxygen support, and extra treatment he might need. Seeing him struggle to breathe has been absolutely heartbreaking.

Salem is more than just a pet to us — he’s family. He’s the kind of cat who’s always there beside us, bringing comfort, love, and personality into our home every single day. Right now, we just want to make sure he gets every treatment and every chance possible to recover safely.

Emergency vet care and oxygen treatment are incredibly expensive, and the costs are adding up very quickly. We’re asking for any help possible to cover his hospitalization, oxygen therapy, medications, testing, and continued care.
