Today, our planet turns ~4.54 billion years old (well, roughly). Pretty wild.

When we started Highland, sustainability wasn’t a marketing tactic or a day to be celebrated once a year, it was a foundational pillar.

In an industry that’s looked the other way for over a century, we made non-negotiable commitments from day one, and every decision still has to meet that bar, no matter the cost or path to get there.

We’re certainly not here to “save the world,” but we are here to do our part, push far further than most brands do, and prove that a successful business doesn’t have to come at the expense of our planet, all while delivering seriously good hair days along the way.

What are we up to this year? Honestly, some pretty exciting stuff…

Through 1% for the Planet, 1% of all Highland sales (not profit, sales) goes directly to environmental nonprofits like Carbon 180, Parley for the Oceans, Climeworks, Plastic Bank, and now Mad Agriculture, supporting everything from carbon removal to ocean cleanup to regenerative farming.

To date, that has meant six-figure donations, millions of plastic bottles removed from coastal communities, hundreds of thousands of pounds of carbon pulled from our atmosphere, and beyond.
