First-year here trying to bend 1” EMT… and somehow the conduit came out looking like it’s been through a breakup. 😅
The first pipe out of the box is supposed to be a clean 45°. The second one already accepted its fate and is headed to the scrap pile.
What’s the trick to getting these lined up without creating premium-grade conduit spaghetti? Measurements, tips, and “please stop before the journeyman sees this” advice welcome. ⚡😂

Failed inspection because the inspector says all the smoke alarms need to be on a dedicated circuit.
Is that actually code… or did I just get failed by the Smoke Alarm Police? 😂
Electricians, inspectors, code nerds — what’s the verdict?

I recently bought a home built in 1991 and have been updating the outlets. I’m an electrician’s mate in the Navy, so I’m comfortable with basic electrical work, but I came across something in one room that I haven’t seen before while working on outlets.
This setup only appears in this one room, and from what I can tell, it’s the only way to keep the lights working in there. I’m curious why it would have been wired this way and whether there’s a better or more standard way to rewire it.
Has anyone seen this type of setup before? I’d appreciate any explanation or advice. ⚡

Just your average 120-degree bend… totally normal, nothing to see here
Why use a clean 90 when you can give the conduit a full scenic route up the stairwell?
Little swoop, little loop, little “I bent this with confidence and no questions asked.”
Honestly, this thing looks less like EMT and more like it’s trying to dodge the handrail inspection on the way up

Charged $3,000 for this water heater setup.
Now the homeowner suddenly wants a permit… and I already know I’m not getting one.
Panel next to the heater, missing cover on the switch, questionable clearances, and a whole lot of “that’s not how this was supposed to go.”
So let’s hear it.
Guess the violation.
And be honest… am I eating this one and giving a refund, or are we calling it a very expensive lesson?

Which Diagram is right, A or B?

Plumber accidentally cut my 240V dryer line, and this is the $350 “repair” the electrician left behind.
I’m no electrician, but this looks less like a proper junction box repair and more like a haunted electrical burrito wrapped in black tape.
Is this legit, or should this have been done inside a junction box? Asking before my dryer becomes a fireworks machine. ⚡😅

The wiring of a standard electrical receptacle. The black wire (hot) connects to the brass screw, while the white wire (neutral) connects to the silver screw. The ground wire (green) is secured to the green screw on the outlet and also connected inside the box using a wire nut. The orange wire appears to be either a switch leg or a continuation of another circuit. The metal box provides additional grounding when properly bonded. Wire nuts ensure secure connections. Proper installation ensures safe and reliable operation.
