According to a recent study by Lansinoh, 88% of new parents said they weren’t prepared for postpartum.

Everyone talks about birth, but for reason what comes after is rarely discussed. For some, postpartum is the most grounding experience of their life. For others it comes with unexpected waves, big feelings, or a recovery that takes more time than they thought. Most parents find it’s somewhere in between, and all of it is more common than we talk about.

What 88% tells us is that we need to talk about postpartum more, before it happens. Not to scare anyone, but so every parent feels ready for whatever their version of it looks like.

Postpartum recovery, postpartum care, and postpartum support should never be an afterthought. The fourth trimester deserves just as much attention as everything that comes before it.
