The 12th house is the part of the chart nobody posts about. Surrender, rest, the subconcious & unseen work.

Your brain and your skin share the same embryonic origin. They grew from the same layer, and they never stopped talking. Your skin acts as an external mirror for your internal, unconscious emotional states.

So when you don't sleep, your skin knows. When you're bracing, holding, performing calm you don't feel, your skin knows that too. The barrier thins. The healing slows. Your face, not just the body keeps the score.

I used to believe rest was the thing I earned after front loading. I now know, rest is precisely the thing that makes the rest possible.

Rest is when the body finally reads the message that it's safe. The nervous system drops your guard. Cortisol falls, and only then can the repair crew clock in. Your skin rebuilds its barrier at night. Your nervous system settles when you finally stop. Nothing in your body heals while you're persisting.

Rest isn't a reward for the work. Rest is the work.

I drew this in 10th grade. 1999.

I thought I was combining two pictures I liked. A lotus, some lines. I colored her green because green felt right.

Last month a mantra Camille Craft | Wealth Psychic + Strategist led me to a Tibetan goddess called Green Tara. Then I looked at this drawing, the only thing that survived from that year, and it was her. Exactly her.

The year before I'd been expelled from private school. I was bullied for my braids, for how I talked, for what I liked. I shared this week in covensation that there was never an institution anywhere that reflected me back to me.

There was more, but that isn't for here. What I'll say is that I wasn't safe, I had no one, and all I wanted was to belong to something or someone or somewhere. To just know that I was good.

So I drew a protector nobody told me about, and I told no one about it.

Tara is born out of a tear. Grief so complete that it produces the thing that answers it. She is born already moving, one foot stepping forward. She doesn't wait for the prayer to finish.

Nothing reflected me back to me. So at fifteen, I drew the mirror myself.

Then I spent my life becoming one for other people.

The Kybalion says: as within, so without. To fix the reflection, you have to fix the root. That isn't a metaphor. It's my profession. Skin is the first place you can watch transformation happen. It's the window you look through to find yourself.

A few years ago I sat in front of a camera and talked about my hair. The same hair I was bullied for. I watched it back and I was embarrassed at first. Then I stopped and thanked her, that girl, for showing up with nothing to protect her.

The Ethiopians keep a teaching Rome left out: do not build temples of stone, for the stone will crumble. Build the temple of the heart.

I've been building everyone else's temple for a long time.

Jupiter just entered Leo, my rising sign, for the first time in twelve years. Astrology doesn't tell me who I am. It tells me when. It's now.

So here I am. Not the finished version. This one, mid-step.

Skin, breath, body, and the sky. It was always one practice. Five days a week from here on.

Yesterday's in the tomb. Tomorrow is in the womb.
