For over 20 years, women have been afraid of hormone therapy because of one study.

In 2002, the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) changed the conversation around hormone therapy almost overnight.

What many women still don’t realize is that the study used specific hormone formulations, including a synthetic progestin that is NOT the same as the micronized progesterone commonly prescribed in BHRT today.

And here’s what often gets overlooked: women in the estrogen-only trial actually had fewer breast cancer diagnoses during long-term follow-up.

Does that mean all hormones are safe? No.

Does it mean all hormone therapies carry the same risks? Also no.

The type of hormone, your age, your medical history, and when you start treatment all matter.

Women deserve to make informed decisions about their health based on the full picture, not a scary headline from 2002.
