Happy 92nd Birthday to the extraordinary Lo**ta San Miguel! 🩵✨

I’ve had the privilege in past years to spend time celebrating Lo**ta and Hiram’s birthdays when they came to New York City. Indulging in sumptuous food, delicious w**e, and lively conversation is always a given when my life-loving husband Pavel meets up with fellow bon vivant, Lo**ta! These photos are from those birthdays.

Lo**ta embodies Joe’s philosophy that doing Pilates is a means to an end that end being to enjoy one’s life.

Now, at 92 years old, I want to wish her many more years of good health, amazing glasses of w**e, and plates of tasty food, and most importantly, continuing to be an inspiration to me and so many who love her around the world.

Today, we celebrate not only a remarkable woman, but a living legacy whose passion for Pilates and zest for life continue to inspire generations across the globe. Happy Birthday, Lo**ta! May this next chapter be filled with love, laughter, wonderful company, and all the beautiful things that make life worth celebrating. 🥂✨

✨ MEET AMBER BUTLER ✨

A second-generation Master Teacher and Committee of Six Member, Amber Butler brings decades of experience, precision, and dedication to the preservation of the Pilates method.

From representing the U.S. as a synchronized swimmer at the French Open to opening Precision Pilates of Spokane in 2004 and graduating from Lo**ta San Miguel’s Master Mentor Program in 2009, Amber’s journey is deeply rooted in movement, education, and lineage.

At Lo**ta’s Legacy Symposium, Amber will present:

Scapular Stability: Where Precision Begins

A workshop exploring scapular organization, precision, awareness, refined cueing, and how thoughtful movement can create greater whole-body efficiency.

Certified through Institute Pilates London, Katya studied with Lo**ta San Miguel and Mary Bowen and has dedicated her career to teaching, preserving, and inspiring the next generation of Pilates teachers.

As the founder of International Pilates University Fitness4You, Katya has trained teachers across six European countries and continues to honor the authenticity of Joseph Pilates’ work.

This is one of those moments I know I’ll carry with me for a very long time. 🩵

I feel so incredibly grateful that I get to still study with Lo**ta at 91 years old. There’s something very special to me about being able to sit in front of her, learn from her, and continue to experience her teaching.

Getting to demonstrate for her was especially meaningful to me. I was never a dancer, and I never imagined that I would one day find myself standing there demonstrating this work for Lo**ta.

In that moment, I couldn’t help but think about the last 25 years and everything I’ve put into Pilates. All of the years of studying, practicing, learning, and working to understand this method brought me to that exact moment.

It felt very personal. And honestly, very emotional.

I’m just deeply grateful that this is part of my story. Grateful that I found Pilates, grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to spend so many years learning this work, and especially grateful that after 25 years, I’m still a student and still have the opportunity to learn from Lo**ta.
