14 years ago today, we were just beginning this journey.

We didn’t know exactly where the path would lead, but we knew the kind of doctors we wanted to become.

Today, so much has changed — but the heart behind Origin Health Center has stayed the same.

We are still learning. Still growing. Still caring deeply about the people who walk through our doors. And still incredibly grateful to serve the Oakland community together.

Looking at these photos side by side reminds us how far we’ve come — and how meaningful this journey has been. 💚

Creatine isn’t just for men or bodybuilders. 💪✨

Creatine is one of the most researched supplements available, and women may benefit from it across many stages of life.

Potential benefits include:

supporting lean muscle and strength
improving exercise performance and recovery
supporting cellular energy production
helping maintain muscle as we age
supporting brain health, memory, and focus
possibly supporting bone health, especially when paired with resistance training
For many women, creatine can be especially helpful during times when maintaining muscle and energy becomes more important, including perimenopause, menopause, and healthy aging.

A commonly used dose is 3–5 grams of creatine monohydrate daily. Consistency matters more than timing.

And no — creatine does not automatically make you “bulky.” Any early increase on the scale is often related to water being stored inside muscle cells, not body fat.

As with any supplement, the right choice depends on your health history, medications, kidney function, activity level, and goals.

Not all Vitamin B12 is the same. ✨

Different forms of B12 may be used for different goals, depending on absorption, symptoms, and how the body uses that form.

Here’s a simple breakdown:

🌿 Methylcobalamin
Often used for nerve health, brain support, and methylation support

⚡ Adenosylcobalamin
Often chosen for mitochondrial and cellular energy support

💉 Hydroxocobalamin
Commonly used in injectable B12 protocols and may offer longer-lasting support for some people

💊 Cyanocobalamin
A stable and widely available form often found in oral supplements, but it must be converted into active forms by the body

The best choice depends on the person, symptoms, absorption, and treatment goals.

At Origin Health Center, we individualize supplement recommendations based on your health history, labs, symptoms, and overall wellness goals.

Not all forms of carnitine are used for the same purpose. ✨

Carnitine plays an important role in energy production and mitochondrial function, but different forms are often chosen for different goals.

🌿 L-Carnitine
Often used for female fertility, PCOS, and metabolic support

🧠 Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR)
Often chosen for brain health, focus, nerve support, and mitochondrial energy

💪 L-Carnitine L-Tartrate
Commonly used for exercise, muscle recovery, and performance support

💚 L-Carnitine + ALCAR
Often paired for male fertility and s***m motility support

The best form depends on the goal — there isn’t one version that is automatically best for everyone.

At Origin Health Center, we look at the bigger picture, including your health history, fertility goals, metabolic health, symptoms, medications, and labs before recommending supplements.

Protein is one of the most important building blocks for the body. It helps support muscle repair, healthy aging, hormone production, blood sugar balance, and satiety — and many people simply are not getting enough.

Some of our favorite animal-based protein sources include:

• Chicken breast
• Turkey breast
• Salmon
• Tuna
• Sardines
• Shrimp
• Eggs
• Greek yogurt
• Cottage cheese
• Lean beef

A helpful goal is to include a quality source of protein with each meal, especially if you are working on weight management, insulin resistance, maintaining muscle mass, or improving energy and overall wellness.

Remember, your ideal protein intake depends on your age, activity level, health goals, kidney function, and overall medical history — so there is no single amount that is right for everyone.

At Origin Health Center, we help patients create personalized nutrition and wellness plans that fit their individual needs.

Not all sugar alternatives are created equal. 🍯🌿

Some sweeteners may have less impact on blood sugar, while others are still best enjoyed in moderation.

A few options we often think about differently:

✨ Stevia, monk fruit, and allulose may be helpful lower-sugar choices for some people
✨ Xylitol can be a lower-glycemic option, but too much may cause digestive upset
✨ Honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, and dates may be less processed, but they still contain sugar
✨ Artificial sweeteners such as sucralose and aspartame may be worth using less often depending on your individual health goals

The best sweetener depends on your overall diet, blood sugar balance, digestion, and personal health needs.

And an important reminder: xylitol is highly toxic to dogs, so always keep it safely out of reach of pets. 🐾

Save this chart for the next time you’re choosing a sweetener. 💚
