It Takes a Pro Artist Jack Martin "This stunning client flew all the way from Brazil for a custom grey blending transformation. I began the process by detoxing her hair with the K18 Hair Molecular Repair Mist to strengthen and protect it before lightening. Using @redken Flash Lift Power 9 with built-in bonder and 20-volume developer, I carefully foiled the hair in ultra-fine sections, leaving her natural roots untouched. Once we reached a clean level 10 pale blonde, I rinsed, towel-dried, and pre-toned with Redken Shades EQ: ¼ 10VV + ¾ 10P + double the amount of Clear (00), processed for 20 minutes. After another rinse and drying the hair to about 80%, I applied Shades EQ 10T for 30 minutes to refine the tone. Then, I added lowlights using Matrix SoColor Sync 6T with 10-volume developer, following the natural root pattern. (Bonus: when you apply lowlights over a silver base, the fade is much more natural and not brassy!) To protect the freshly toned silver, I coated the silver strands with conditioner before rinsing the lowlights, followed by shampoo with K18 damage shield shampoo, only—no conditioner—and finished with the K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Mask for deep restoration, and K18 Molecular repair oil for heat protection and frizz elimination. Finally, I gave her a long layered haircut and cut off about 4 inches of her length. Then I styled it with round brushes for a soft, elegant finish, using K18 Astrolift to create beautiful, all-over volume throughout the hair. This transformation took 9 hours from start to finish.
