Congratulations to Richie Marchese, our outstanding graduating adult reconstruction fellow!
Over the past year, he completed an incredible 1,170 surgical cases—setting a new fellowship program record. While the number is certainly impressive, what stands out even more is the person behind it.
He approached every day prepared, worked tirelessly, demonstrated excellent surgical skill, and earned the respect of everyone in the operating room through his humility, honesty, and professionalism. Just as importantly, he remained a devoted family man throughout the demanding year.
Richie, congratulations on an exceptional fellowship year. It has been a privilege to be part of your journey, and I can’t wait to see all that you accomplish in the years ahead.

Thank you, , for the invitation to speak to your Healthcare Sales Careers class at my Alma mater, . We discussed what qualities make a great orthopedic sales representative from an orthopedic surgeon’s perspective: honesty, brevity, integrity, and the ability to stay cool in high-pressure situations.
Orthopedic sales reps are an integral part of my team in the operating room, and trust is earned through consistency. Even if you are just getting started in your career as a sales representative, hard work and a desire to learn go a long way in a surgeon’s eyes.
What a fun class to be a part of. Thanks again, Kevin! Go Redhawks!

📝 New Publication Alert 🦵✨
Our latest study on patella baja following revision total knee arthroplasty (rTKA) is now published!
🔍 Key findings:
• True patella baja occurred in 24% of cases
• Pseudo–patella baja occurred in 14%
• Revision for infection increased the risk of true patella baja nearly 9x
• Number of prior surgeries and preoperative patella position were strong predictors of outcomes
• Patients with normal patellar height had improved range of motion compared to those with patella baja
📊 These findings highlight the importance of recognizing risk factors such as prior surgeries, infection, and pre-op patellar height to improve outcomes after revision TKA.
Nice work, .gapinski !
Why do surgeons care so much about your body weight before you have hip or knee replacement surgery? It’s because we care about you!
Please give our new AAHKS Amplified podcast a listen to learn more about how surgeons optimize the patients from a medical standpoint prior to surgery, and why it matters. (Link in bio)

We’ve reached 1,000 Google Reviews!
As surgeons, we try not to get too focused on online patient reviews (plenty of other things we should focus on first). But knowing that I have helped this many patients in my first four years of practice reminds me of why I chose this profession.
Thank you to my team (Daniel, Yaara, Sarah, Val), who are likely the real reason we get so many 5-star reviews.
Most importantly, thank you to all my patients who trusted me with their care. It is an honor to be your surgeon.
