Eeeee we decided last minute to go check out Premiere. This is my second hair show I’ve ever been to and wasn’t really sure what to expect. This event was massive and took place in a huge convention center.

For anyone not in the hair industry, Our overhead is the highest out of any industry. People see larger price tags for big color services and think we’re just pocketing it all- not realizing how much money $$$ our tools and products are.

I spent over $600 at this show on combs, a cutting razor, and two small boxes of product which will not even last me a month. And that was WITH an event discount.

Our education is something we also have to invest in, especially to keep up with the ever changing chemistry in product and technique.

Overall this was a fun event and I’m glad I went. I got to see some familiar faces and meet some new friends. I am so excited to use my new tools and am feeling super inspired to enter The Rainbow Convention this year!!

I may specialize in vivids, but in order to be good at those you HAVE to understand blonding and formulating.

There are so many factors to consider when performing a blonding service on a client. Especially if it’s their first time in my chair.

So here’s what to expect when receiving a blonding service:

🍑 Your current canvas will dictate your end result. SO if you have ANY pre-existing color in your hair, it will affect your results. Some color truly never leaves the hair so that’s why I typically ask for a 5 year history during our consultation.

🍑 If your hair is darker than a chocolate brown the expectation of going platinum in one session is unrealistic.

🍑 Your water can affect the way your hair lifts or even put you at risk for a chemical reaction. Minerals and build up can live in and on the hair.

🍑 Blonding services are not one size fits all, there are so many ways to customize and enhance your features depending on technique
