🇺🇸🏍️⛰️ Mount Humphreys – My 4th of July Adventure
“The strongest people are not those who never grow weary, but those who keep trusting God when they do.”

Yesterday was one of the most memorable 4th of Julys of my life.

I rode my Indian motorcycle from my home in Gilbert to the base of Mount Humphreys, Arizona’s highest peak at 12,633 feet. I started hiking at 10:45 AM, reached the summit around 2:30 PM, and made it back to the parking lot by 6:00 PM. The hike is over 10 miles round trip with more than 3,000 feet of elevation gain. It is challenging, but absolutely worth every step.

Along the trail, God gave me the opportunity to share water with a group of six young hikers. One of them became sick from the high elevation. I prayed for him, and by God’s grace he recovered and made it back down safely. When we returned to the parking lot, they prayed for me. What an incredible reminder that God is always at work.

There were moments when I wanted to quit, but I kept praying:

“Lord, my flesh is weak, but Your Spirit is strong. Please give me the strength to keep climbing.”

God answered that prayer.

I also met a young man proudly carrying our American flag to the summit. The people I met on the trail were kind, encouraging, and positive. Standing on the highest point in Arizona reminded me how small we are and how great our God is.

“Faith doesn’t make the mountain smaller—it gives you the strength to keep climbing.”

A few tips if you’re planning to hike Mount Humphreys:

💧 Carry at least 3–4 liters of water.
🥾 Take your time—don’t rush.
🚶 Hike at your own pace.
⛰️ Don’t underestimate the effects of high elevation and thin air.
🥜 Bring snacks and electrolytes.
🌦️ Check the weather before you go.
❤️ Encourage fellow hikers along the way.
💪 Never give up—one step at a time will get you there.
