Seems like a great time to reintroduce myself. Hello I am Strange aka Alex and I am the new owner of Switchblade Salon est since 2005. I took over the business January of 2023.
As a trans LGBTQA business owner my mission has been to create an environment that feels safe and welcoming to those individuals who don't feel comfortable in mainstream salons. A safe space to be authentically yourself without fear of being misunderstood or misgendered! My special is creating styles that help enhance gender expression and confidence to folks. Like my friend Ari here. With their cool new "Canary yellow k-pop bowlcut but more q***r"
2023 was a year of exploring my own gender identity and expression and some of you have been along for that journey with me and I want to say thank you for your support, encouragement , and kindness. Having open conversation that helps bring awareness and compassion to forward thought processing and bringing community closer.
So for those of you who may be here for the first time, some who may not know, or may have noticed the progression, or simply just been going with the flow. I am currently identifying as trans masculine genderq***r. My pronouns are they/them/boy. I would love to have a conversation with anyone wanting help understanding what it is like living life as a transgender human. It's perfectly acceptable to want a better understanding and the desire to learn and be open to listening so please know you have nothing to be concerned about such as "offending or saying the wrong thing" because questions give clarity and I could never be upset about that.

We have done a little rebranding. Some of you have known Alex aka: Shear Alchemy for many years, some of you have known Switchblade Salon for even longer! Alex took over ownership of Switchblade Salon in January 2023 which has been operating since 2005 and established in its flagship space for 15+ years.
We would like to introduce Sara Jane! She has been working with Alex for over three years and is a very talented stylist with a free spirit!
If you don't know Alex yet they have been doing hair in the Valley for almost 20 years and are very passionate about their LGBTQIA community.

You ever just meet a person and their energy is something undeniable and you want to be apart of their world?
This beautiful, smart, witty, silly human is pretty special to me and I am blessed to be a part of her life journey into navigating the world. I am greatful she trusts me and allows me to.
How did I meet Olive? Well she was a part of our roller derby youth program where we adult skaters promote sportsmanship, healthy habits, leadership, empowerment, and self confidence through physical fitness, mental toughness and adaptability. Now she is my teammate and we get to teach each other all kinds of lessons in life and that is pretty extraordinary!

My life partner Mike is not only my biggest fan he is also my rock. He encourages me to go after my dreams and goals and he helps keep me grounded.
As an ADHD entrepreneur the best part of my brain is the creative aspects and out of the box thinking but the more challenging parts are the tasks, systems, and other executive functions that I need to stay focused on those goals.
This human helps keep me on track and encourages all of the rapid fire ideas I have and I know that no matter how many times I may fail, he is always there to remind me they are just the lessons I needed to succeed and helps me get back on the horse.
I am so grateful for the partnership we have. More than I could ever express...
