Most people think they're over-explaining because they communicate too much.

Sometimes they're over-explaining because they're terrified of being misunderstood.

Terrified of conflict.
Terrified of disappointing someone.
Terrified of being seen as the bad guy.
Terrified of being abandoned.

So they keep talking.
Keep clarifying.
Keep defending.
Keep trying to make sure everyone understands their intentions.

Not because they're manipulative.

Because somewhere along the way, their nervous system learned:

"If people misunderstand me, I might lose connection."

Some of you call it kindness…

but your nervous system calls it survival.

A lot of people don’t realize they’re people pleasing because it doesn’t FEEL manipulative when you’re the one doing it.

It feels like:
keeping the peace
being understanding
avoiding conflict
making sure everyone’s okay
trying not to disappoint people

But underneath that?

A lot of the time there’s fear.

Because somewhere along the way your body learned:
being liked was safer than being honest.

And when you constantly override your own feelings, boundaries, needs, and discomfort to maintain emotional safety…

your nervous system notices.

That’s what this episode of Alchemy of Self is about.

Not becoming selfish.

Becoming conscious enough to notice when you’re abandoning yourself just to avoid discomfort, rejection, guilt, or disconnection.

One of the most frustrating feelings in the world is knowing exactly what you should do… and still reacting completely differently in the moment.

A lot of emotionally intelligent people secretly carry shame around that.

But survival patterns don’t disappear just because you became self-aware.

One thing I really respect is when someone creates something that actually helps people come back to themselves instead of just escaping themselves.

My friend Avery Goodman wrote a book called Feel Good Now and honestly I think a lot of people need this kind of reminder right now.

Not “wait until everything is perfect.”
Not “wait until life slows down.”
Not “maybe someday.”

Now.

Especially for the people who have spent so long stuck in stress, survival mode, overthinking, burnout, or constantly chasing the next thing thinking THEN they’ll finally feel okay.

Sometimes we get so disconnected from ourselves that we forget feeling good is even allowed.

Some people don’t shut down during conflict because they don’t care.

They shut down because somewhere along the way their body learned conflict wasn’t emotionally safe.

And that creates a kind of shame most people don’t talk about.

silence
distance
avoidance
disconnection

…but internally?

A lot of people are overwhelmed as hell.

Their chest tightens.
Their mind goes blank.
Their body wants to escape.
They can FEEL themselves disappearing in real time.

And afterward they sit there wondering:
“Why couldn’t I just communicate normally?”

I used to think “leveling up” was just mindset.

Think better.
Do better.
Be more disciplined.

But honestly… I’ve realized a huge part of it is what you allow yourself to live inside of.

Your environment affects your energy.
Your nervous system.
Your identity.

For me, preparing my space matters.

My crystals.
My dried flowers.
My little pockets of peace and power.
Even my Fennekin sitting with my crystals bringing the “bad ass fox energy” 😂🦊
Because to me that energy means, adaptable. intuitive. resilient. clever. powerful.

Not because aesthetics magically fix your life…

…but because embodiment matters.

The way you care for yourself.
The way you set up your environment.
The way you allow yourself to experience your life…
all of it communicates something to your mind and body.

For me, this is part of building capacity.

Capacity to receive more.
Capacity to hold peace.
Capacity to feel safe enough to expand.
Capacity to embody the version of me I’m actually excited to be.

You can feel when a space reflects survival mode…
and you can feel when it reflects intention too.

And sometimes healing looks less like “fixing yourself”
and more like finally creating a life your nervous system actually wants to exist in. ✨

To the moms trying not to lose themselves while raising everyone else…

I see you.

The moms carrying the mental load.
The overstimulation.
The guilt.
The pressure.
The constant feeling that everyone needs something from you.

The moms trying to heal…
while still actively parenting.

Trying to regulate…
while teaching little humans how to regulate too.

Trying not to repeat patterns… while life is actively testing you every day.

That’s heavy.

And honestly?
Not enough people talk about how hard it can be to hold everyone else together while quietly falling apart inside yourself.

So today isn’t just about celebrating what you DO.

It’s about recognizing who you are underneath survival mode, underneath exhaustion, underneath constantly giving to everyone else.

You matter too.

Not just as a mom.
As a person.

And if nobody’s told you lately…

You’re probably doing far better than you think you are 🤍

So today, show yourself a little love too.

Even if it’s something small.

A quiet moment.
A deep breath.
A coffee in silence.
