Neurotoxin: Why Your Botox Looks Different on Each Side of Your Face

You got your Botox. One side looks great. The other side looks slightly off. Maybe one brow sits a little higher. Maybe one side of your forehead is smoother than the other. Maybe the lines between your brows relaxed unevenly.

Before you assume something went wrong, consider this: your face was never symmetrical to begin with. And that asymmetry directly affects how neurotoxin settles and performs.

There are a few reasons this happens.

Muscle dominance is the most common. Most people have one side of their face that's stronger. You raise one brow higher when you're skeptical. You squint harder on one side when you smile. You chew more on one side. These patterns create muscles that are thicker, more active, and more resistant on one side compared to the other. The same number of units injected into both sides will produce different results because the muscles aren't equal.
