Protein bars are NOT just candy bars with better marketing.
Hear me out…
Yeah, whole foods are always the gold standard. If you’ve got time to cook and eat chicken, rice, and veggies… do that.
But life isn’t perfect.
Sometimes you’re traveling.
Sometimes you’re between meetings.
Sometimes you’re running late.
Sometimes you’re just trying to crush a sweet craving without blowing your nutrition.
That’s where a quality protein bar wins.
Same convenience.
Same chocolate fix.
Completely different nutritional value.
That extra protein helps keep you full, supports muscle recovery, and makes it easier to hit your daily protein goal. The fiber helps with satiety, while the lower sugar means you’re far less likely to get the blood sugar spike and crash that leaves you reaching for another snack an hour later.
Are there protein bars that are basically candy bars? Absolutely.
But saying all protein bars are just candy bars with better marketing is like saying grilled chicken is the same as fried chicken because they’re both chicken.
Choose quality. Read the label. Hit your protein.
🔥 Agree or disagree? Let’s hear it.

I didn’t have a lot of motivation to get the boat to far from shore if ya know what I mean.
Swimsuit season is knocking on the door.
And I’m all for looking your best. But before you load up on GLP-1s, start a 72-hour fast, or survive on nothing but coffee, energy drinks for a month, take a second and consider the following:
1. You’ll Have the Energy of a Sloth. And the Personality to Match.
You’ll have just enough gas for your workout and not much else.
Work, family, friends and life gets your drained, boring, but super lean ass.
2. Progress Gets Replaced by Fear
The leanest version of you is rarely the strongest or most capable version of you.
At some point you stop training to improve and start training not to lose what you’ve built.
That’s not progress. That’s survival with abs.
3. Your Gut Gets Weird
Bloating.
Constipation.
Food sensitivities through the roof.
Turns out your digestive system isn’t a huge fan of being stressed and underfed all the time.
4. You Start Losing Muscle
Your body likes survival more than aesthetics.
When body fat gets low enough, the muscle you spent years building starts looking like an emergency snack.
5. Your Sleep Sucks
You wake up at 3 a.m. for absolutely no reason.
Except there is a reason. Your body is stressed. And stress doesn’t sleep.
6. You’re not building sustainable habits.
You’re on a plan that can’t be maintained. It’s a short term win that will lead to long term loses.
7. You’re Always Sore or injured.
Recovery requires fuel.
If you’re constantly running on fumes, your body never fully catches up.
The Takeaway
Being lean is great. But you need to know when you’ve reached your goal. There is such a thing as too lean.
Body fat has a purpose.
As Sir Mix-a-Lot once wisely said:
“You can do side bends and sit-ups, but please don’t lose that butt.”
Chasing your leanest self often comes with an overpriced expense.
Instead, chase your healthiest self. Your happiest.
Your most sustainable. Build good habits. Find your maintenance calories. Fuel properly.
Looking good for one season is cool. Feeling good for the next 30 years is a polar bear in a Speedo eating a snow cone in Antarctica cool. 🐻❄️🍧❄️
Solid blend of conditioning and strength training
Aim for unbroken sets and keep minimal breaks between movements just keep moving and push the pace.
The goal is to elevate the heart rate, challenge the body, and get a solid sweat in without overcomplicating things.
I love workouts like this because they keep training fun and different instead of doing the same style every session.
Every Minute on the minute for 30:00
Min 1 15-20 Cal Row
Min 2 10-15 Burpees over the rower
Min 3 15-20 Cal Bike
Min 4 10-16 DB Hang Clean and Jerks
Min 5 REST
Easy warm up, whole lotta sweat.
Most days it’s not about greatness. It’s about just showing up. It’s not about being the best. It’s about being the best version of you.
Skipping a session doesn’t make tomorrow easier, it only piles on that “ugh, now I have to do this” guilt.
And guilt is a terrible dancing partner , always off-beat, stepping on your toes.
Consistency though, that one glides with you smoother than MJ doing the moonwalk.
Just trying to be a little stronger than yesterday…
and not drop these dumbbells on my face.
Todays Training
AM Chest day
DB Bench
10-10-10-8-6-5
Incline DB bench (drop sets )
3x 10+15
Dips
3x20
PM CrossFit
20 rep Front Rack Lunge
Then
15 min
2 push ups
2 db snatches
2 goblet squats
Add 2 reps each round.
Keeping track of what round you’re on is almost as hard as the workout…
Scary, but awesome truth:
You can always get better.
You are never done.
There is no finish line.
No final version of you.
Just another level.
Another lesson.
Another chance to sharpen the blade.
Most people stop when it gets uncomfortable.
That’s exactly where growth starts.
Keep going.
Get better.
Repeat.
Small things don’t stay small.
They stack.
That random conversation… turns into an opportunity.
One workout… turns into the best shape of your life.
One solid morning… turns into momentum you can’t stop.
That’s how it works.
But flip it…
One bad habit… becomes your norm.
One missed chance… becomes regret.
One negative voice… keeps you up at night replaying everything you should’ve done.
That’s the scary truth
Tiny actions compound in BOTH directions.
The good news?
Life isn’t chaos. There’s patterns. There’s rhythm. There’s structure.
And once you lock into it…
Everything changes.
