Curly hair 🤝 k tips

If you have curly hair you know what a beast it can be. Everyday is different, curl patterns can vary… and what do you do if you want to add more to it? How can someone match not only your natural texture, but the color as well? It’s certainly not easy 😅

K tips are my favorite extension method for curly girls and there are several reasons why. First and foremost, because of how they’re applied. Strand by strand. This alleviates any weird shelf you may get where your natural curls rest on top of the extensions. K tips can be placed anywhere on your head and break up your natural texture beautifully, which eliminates a shelf altogether. Not only that, but we can mix, match, and even add different textures that give your hair so much body and bounce. This goes for girls with naturally straight or wavy hair too 🥳

I source my curly extensions from two different places: directly with a factory, or through an Eastern European wholesaler. This means I have 100% control over texture, density, and color, and if I can’t find it, I create it. No big brands, no matching your hair to a color swatch and trying to make it work. Your extensions with me are one of one that I not only source just for you, but they’re 100% customized as well. Every single bond is handmade. Having these connections and taking the time to customize everything has been essential to matching unique curl patterns as well as virgin hair colors and it’s something I really take pride in ❤️

Last but not least, k tips are versatile because they can be air dried. Some methods require you to dry your hair which isn’t always ideal for curly girls. I personally don’t heat style my hair and being able to air dry my k tips has been such a game changer 🥰

Where do I even start?

This beautiful client first came to me after seeing some of my work with top of the head solutions for women. She had lost a lot of weight followed by a series of health issues that left her hair thinning and shedding like never before. I had just gotten back from a mesh integration certification, and she began wearing a semi-permanent piece that was attached to her hair with mesh and beads.

I then solo traveled to London for yet another certification, this time with a completely different attachment style. One that scared the s**t out of me. Medical grade adhesive. A fancy term for glue. Yes, glue. I flew all the way to London because I simply had to see it for myself and understand how in the world it worked. I didn’t understand how it could be safe, until I saw it myself and spoke with women who had been wearing a system. Not only was there no damage, but some of them experienced hair that started filling in and growing back after years of loss. I was shocked to say the least and I knew I had to bring this service, one of the first of its kind, right here to Pittsburgh.

My beautiful client is shown above wearing a custom scalp prothesis piece that fits her head like a glove and allows her to wear an insane amount of hair very, very comfortably. It has a silicone base with microscopic holes that allows her scalp to breathe. We’ll safely remove it (check out to see for yourself) every 6 weeks, maintenance her hair, and reattach it. She’ll wear the piece for approximately a year before needing a new one.

I couldn’t be happier for her. After everything she’s been through, she deserves this. To go from covering her face to fully showing herself on camera is just incredible. I’m so grateful she allowed me to share this, which I know is because she knows she’s going to help and inspire so many other women to do the same.
