This is real-time gel removal in under 12 seconds. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the significance of using the appropriate e-bit.

For gel removal, I highly recommend the TurboCut Pro 2.0 carbide bit with a rounded top. This design allows you to approach the sidewall and cuticle area without damaging the skin.

If you’re a right-handed user, set your e-file to F (forward motion). If you’re a left-handed user, set it to R (reverse motion).

Start by applying light pressure and moving your e-file from the middle to the tip (free edge). If you encounter resistance or the e-file digs into your nails, your RPM is too low. Conversely, if you hear a high-pitched noise or feel a burning sensation, your e-file speed is too high, and you’ve applied too much pressure.

Continue filing in a downward motion. Once you’ve completed this motion, move from right to left at the cuticle area to remove the remaining gel polish.

On the left side, file a short downward stroke to the free edge. On the right side, file from the free edge to the cuticle, which means your downward stroke will become an upward stroke towards the cuticle.

Using the carbide bit with a rounded top eliminates the need for excessive caution. This bit can glide along the cuticle and sidewall without causing harm to your clients.

With the right tool, RPM, and control, practice makes perfect.
