You are young and you will heal faster. I vote you go for it. I think its a good idea us to get the surgery before they have children or a crazy hard schedule...life doesnt get any easier. If yiu tine it carefully youll be ready for a great summer 2027 with happy feet. ( of course....im not asuming your life is easy or you dont have kiddos). I wish i had done my surgery when i was young and living at home and didnt have a crazy schedule

thank you!! my doc actually already set me up with another doctor for her opinion as she's more well versed in the surgeries. she said she recommended the type she offered because i have some amount of hypermobility in my feet, but i'll see what the other doctor says next monday! thank you for your insight, it helps a lot!

Thanks for the detailed response. Really interesting to see how you worked through the issue. A few things I might challenge you on but generally sound. Main push back would be barefoot waking / minimalist shoes is not for everyone. There are some people with pre existing conditions or structural issues (bunions, hallux rigidus, hypermobility…etc) that will likely make things worse were they to try this. Even with gradual progression. As for me, said bye bye to it some time ago but haven’t returned to running yet which I used to do before. Mainly because I was sorting other compensation/atrophy issues that were the result of PF. Closest I came to minimalist shoes whilst I had it was a low profile pair of Clarks which I loved and Altra Escalante 3s. Have always had it in mind to take it further but it’s just the time and finding the footwear that is a bit of a hassle. My feet are pretty big and not many stores stock minimalist shoes which means the online hit and miss of try and return until you get the right size. Can I ask you what you favourite minimalist shoes are and why?

I randomly noticed it a few weeks ago. I wouldn’t say it hurt, but I could just feel it there all of a sudden. And pressing it kinda made it hurt. Now it randomly started being annoying again. Not necessarily painful, but annoying. And it even started itching. Actually maybe it doesn’t kinda hurt. I’ve been googling around and looking on this sub and I’ve seen so many different answers. It’s kinda hard, not soft. Also, I exclusively wear barefoot shoes except the occasional event where I need/want to wear heels, but that’s rare. Any ideas? I don’t know if it went away and came back or just never went away, cause I didn’t take notice of it after awhile

For weeks I've had this pain right on the ball of my foot (I'm already checking stuff out with my doc. However I think she thinks it's gout but I don't think it is). It's not very painful but more so annoying like a cramp in your foot that just got released. It's also not all the time but when I walk I can feel it (not all the time) and certain motions (like putting pressure on the side of my foot). I've tried everything to stop the pain. Ice, warmth, socks, no socks, toe spreaders, massage gun, baths, vibration plate, getting a foot massage, giving myself a foot massage, doing nothing, walking, different shoes, no shoes..I'm at a loss. It's so very annoying and the more I use it the more it'll be painful but then it goes back to the normal pain.. Idk for gout I think it should have started way earlier if at all and been more painful same for a strain or stress fracture... Please help me

Any advice? Is this a big enough deal to go to the Dr. Last October I dropped a knife of my R foot and partially cut a tendon. I went to ortho and don't need Sxg. I've been struggling with pain and esp driving until about a 2mo afteri foot diclofanac cream. About 2mo ago my left ankle was tired and sore (compensating) I was walking on slanted ground and rolled my L ankle (inverted) to the left. It hurt the next two or so days. I used kinesiology tape to support the left side of my ankle. Worked perfectly, no pain. 3 days later I took it off and it was fine for 2 days. Then it started hurting again. Ive been doing 3d on 3d off. On releve it hurts the most andvI am unable to go on demi pointe on my left. (Tippy toes)The pain is not bad bad. It slowly gets more noticeable especially up and down stairs. It Isn't that bad pain 3 5, but it isn't getting better. Looking at the outside of my foor the pain is at about 8:00 from my lateral malious (outside bump) see photo.)The taping still helps. 2 weeks ago I noticed my left side of my left foot is swollen towards the end of the day. It doesn't seem bad enough to go to the Dr. However, i recently started to get alarm bells since it seems a bit worse. Any advice?

Bupa doesn't cover this one. also tbh im worried about the stability of not using screws (however tempting it sounds) Glad you have a good procedure though!

I'm in the UK and had MIS PBS. I went private and am four months post op. I have NO hardware. I had heard horror stories about the NHS route from a friend who had multiple surgeries to fix the first one. I didn't want hardware permanently in my body. Best decision ever. Not a single regret. A good friend of mine whose feet are worse than mine waited until I had a positive outcome and has just booked my surgeon.

Wedge pillow was critical and I still use it 3 months post op when my foot swells. Closable water bottle with straw. Knee scooter with basket and water bottle holder. It didn't take long before my knee scooter was always loaded up with pretty much anything I might need. Ice packs are great but I disliked the couple 'foot shaped' ice packs I bought. A regular ice pack with an ace bandage was a much better option. Once my cast was off I got a lot of use out of some oversized knit slipper sock things. I don't even know where we got them from. My feet were constantly cold but regular socks were too tight. A good book or three. I did a lot of reading while being 'non weight bearing' on one foot. This one is odd, but instead of a bedside table I used a multi tiered plant stand.

Hi, I was hoping for thoughts on my X rays. This xray request was in relation to bilateral foot pain, footpad atrophy, swelling around the ankles. Report said nothing could indicate why. Wanted thoughts on right xray re 4th toe and the crookedness and causes I can and I feel the bone of the 4th meta head. Always put it down to fat pad atrophy as I have it across the forefoot but it’s more uneven and more prominent at 4th meta head fat pad loss wise. 3rd toe and 3rd meta head also look crooked and no space between the meta head/long bones? Also have issue with planterflexed 1st ray and bunion which is giving me issues. All bar the toes are giving me pain. Re left foot, does it look like there’s a problem with 2nd/3rd toes and meta heads? Again look bit crooked and no space between? Dr shrugged , Physio said might just be shadowing in the xray. Would appreciate any insights on what you see
