Lately, the activity around the Portland Ice building has made it harder for local businesses in the South Waterfront — including Oranj Studio. Foot traffic is down, parking is trickier, and the overall vibe in the area has shifted in ways that make it challenging for the small, creative, and service-based businesses that call this neighborhood home.

We’re still here. Still showing up. Still doing our thing. But it’s hard to keep Portland weird when small businesses are getting iced out. 🧊

Jo's deep design sensibilities combined with her love tor textile arts brings a fresh take on traditional quilt making. Seamlessly weaving color, texture, and fabric together into a high form of visual art. This exhibit marks her first solo gallery exhibit and shows off a range of meticulously crafted pieces that invite you to get up close and inspect every stitch.

About the artist
As an artist, Jo Wollschlaeger draws on her deep and diverse design background to create modern, original quilts. This is evident in her confident use of color, shape, line, texture to create vibrant and dynamic compositions with fabric. Most recently, she has been exploring the tension between order and chaos, structure and freedom, rules and randomness. Her award-winning quilts have been exhibited at QuiltCon, the pre-eminent international modern quilt show, and have travelled the world.
