I’ve been cutting off some major hair so far this year! It seems to me bobs are having a moment. I have been cutting Sara’s hair for a ton of years, since I was at Tiger Tiger on Alberta street. This is probably the 3-4th time I’ve cut several inches and it grows right back!

Like many hair artists, I started by cutting all of my dolls' hair off, then I moved on to people's hair. Once, another small child and I got into trouble. I liked to experiment and would cut all kinds of stuff from fabric to friends' hair and my own. We did all of the colors we could get our hands on in Anchorage, AK, where I grew up. P***y Colors and Manic Panic were the heavy hitters.
My mom had a friend I would babysit for when I was around 16-18, and she was a hairdresser. She would pay me in trade, and I loved it. She would do the bleaching (that stuff burned like fire) and try the latest technique on me. I loved it so much! The thrill of change was magnetic, and I could not get enough.
We have come a long way in the industry over the years. I like to take a collaborative approach; most times, a person likes or dislikes a hairstyle by what it feels like. If there is a dense spot in your hair or the hairs at the nape get all tangled, we can cut and shape them so it doesn't.
I love bangs because they shape the face and can add much interest to a hairstyle. Everyone can have fringe or bangs if they want, and trust me, you have good hair. Sometimes, we need to try out different products to support the style you want.

This is a creative space; it is ever evolving. It is cool to think of the businesses that have inhabited it previously. This building has been an on-ramp for local entrepreneurs as GO42! Most recently, I had partnered with another stylist, but as seasons change, so does this space.
Revolve Hair Studio is a clean air space and a sustainable hair salon. I am working to set up a hair product refillery and have a goal to expand to organic body and home products in the future. Do you think our neighborhood could use a bulk refill store?

Hello, I am Jessi! I opened Revolve Hair Studio originally in 2017 with the intention of creating a quiet retreat that felt quite like a tree fort hair salon. I loved that space on NE Fremont and was sad to close the doors in 2021. The pandemic arrived at a challenging time in my life, and I had to adapt. If you are living life, you are going to experience change. I choose not to fight it but to invite it. I am a neurodivergent person. I always knew I was different, but what I did not know was that I have ADHD. This means I have sensory issues, and I need a quiet environment, so I made this space for the people who do not enjoy a loud, busy salon like me. After a hiatus from salon ownership while I explored other careers in college, I realized I still love doing hair and the flexibility of this industry.
