Kidney for John

As we prepare to close out 2024, we want to thank all of our Family, Friends and the amazing care givers at University of Penn. You have shown all of us such love and kindness. This year was hard but without all of you, it would have been unbearable. We appreciate all you and everything you have done.
Lastly, we want to ask you all to say an additional prayer for the donors family and friends.

John is back home after a week in the hospital with pneumonia. His most recent biopsy came back with good numbers, good pressure and 0 signs of rejection. This guy continues to amaze me with his strength, courage, and resilience.
Thank you everyone for your support, love, and kindness.

Please say an extra prayer for John. He was admitted back to the hospital for pneumonia. He is feeling better this morning but still could use the extra positive and healing thoughts.

What a crazy few weeks it has been. John is still doing AMAZING. He has been getting stronger everyday and even started putting on some weight!
He did have a minor bump in the road that landed him a short term stay back in the hospital but he is back home and resting.
We really are blessed and appreciate all of you for your love, support and generosity. We are humbled by the gift he has received from his donor and ask that you continue to pray for their family as well.

I am so happy to be able to share that John has been discharged from the hospital. They are on the way down to pick him up now and bring him home.
We could not be happier. He is about two weeks ahead of the scheduled recovery time.
Of course he still has a long rode ahead of him and lots of visits back to the city for follow ups, but we are so happy to have him coming home.
He is also EXTREMELY happy to be coming home. Looking forward to home cooked meals and sleeping in his own bed.
We appreciate all of you who have visited, called, texted, messaged, offered help and support during these last few weeks.
We are blessed to have such an amazing tribe around us.

I am blessed with the Best Brother!

I have not posted an update lately but thanks to all of your prayers and positive thoughts, John is doing AMAZING!
He is walking without any outside support, he had his first heart biopsy and everything is looking and working great.
The heart pressure is and kidney functions are good.
His numbers all look great and they medical staff is very pleased with how well he is doing.
I do not want to jinx it but there is a good chance he will be coming home VERY soon.

He still has a long road of recovery ahead of him but we are all so pleased that he is doing so well.

Please continue to keep him in your thoughts.

I am happy to report that John is out chasing the nurses around . . . Just kidding, he is out walking the halls (with the assistance of a walker). This makes me so happy to hear. Less than a week ago, he had two major surgeries.

Our prayers are being answered every day with his continued progress!

Keep the good news coming! John has been moved from the ICU floor today. He is now in the "Step Down" unit. This means the last chest tube has been removed and he is off the last IV medication
He is scheduled for his first heart biopsy on Thursday.
