Just finished pre-painting this zombie half-face foam latex prosthetic headed to Woods of Terror in Greensboro for The Necropolis. Layered airbrush alcohol-based paints (European Body Art/EBA + Pro-Aiir), Skin Illustrator alcohol palettes, and Ben Nye Thick Blood to build that rotting, cemetery-fresh look — every tear, every stain, every wet detail designed to make you question what’s still breathing when the lights go out.

Fair warning: it might not stay in the maze. The midway has been known to get visitors.

A little behind-the-scenes look at my Behind the Terror Dress Rehearsal 2026 Woods of Terror haunt season! 👻

Dress rehearsal was Saturday, August 15th, and I finally got to see these prosthetic applications come to life under the lights. 🖤

This was such a fun opportunity to put my prosthetic application, blending, painting, airbrush, and character makeup skills to work and see how everything translated from the makeup chair into a fully dressed haunt environment. There’s something extra satisfying about watching a prosthetic go from “piece of foam latex on the table” to a fully realized creature. 😈

Nothing feels quite like getting back into prosthetic application.

Dress rehearsal at Woods of Terror was on Saturday (August 15, 2026) and I got to bring this Baba Yaga house witch fully to life. Seating the piece, blending the edges, making sure it moved with the skin instead of fighting it… man, I missed this. The precision, the transformation, the way a well-applied prosthetic can completely change the energy of a character.

Quick educational note for anyone curious about the craft: the real magic is in the edges and the adhesion. Clean edges + the right blend and the piece disappears into the skin so the performance can take over. That’s the difference between “costume” and “creature.”

Here’s to the start of a phenomenal haunt season and Woods of Terror’s 35th year.

👻☕ August is serving major Augtober energy and I brought the newest Dutch Bros review straight to you!

First up: the Island Potion Iced Rebel — mango and pineapple energy with a pomegranate float. Bright, tropical, and refreshing even as spooky season sneaks in.

Then the Mexican Mocha Freeze — creamy espresso, dark chocolate, and cinnamon with soft top and cinnamon sprinkles. Rich, warm, and perfect for that early fall vibe.

Fall drinks are right around the corner (we have the release date 🤫😉) and I’m already in full Augtober mode. I’ll do my absolute best to get September and October reviews out, but my schedule is stacked so no promises — just pure effort!

Just finished pre-painting this InfectedFX foam latex witch prosthetic and it’s headed to Woods of Terror in Greensboro, NC for the Baba Yaga: The Witch House maze. Layered European Body Art (EBA), Pro-Aiir, and Skin Illustrator alcohol palettes to build that weathered, otherworldly skin that looks like it’s been living in the woods for centuries. Every crease, every shadow, every iron-tooth grin is designed to make you second-guess what’s real when the lights go out.

Flashback to 2017: layering on the full Voodoo: Order of the Serpent look for Knott’s Scary Farm.

This maze started in 2014 as simply “Voodoo,” hidden next to GhostRider in a backstage warehouse that only opened each fall. Guests wandered through a New Orleans-inspired swamp of murky paths, shuffling figures, and sudden scares. By 2015 it expanded, added a new Skeleton Key room, and became Voodoo: Order of the Serpent. Later seasons reversed the route and refreshed the finale, but the atmosphere stayed thick until it closed after 2017.

Watching this old time-lapse still feels like stepping back into those humid nights — same brushes, same careful build of color and texture, same rush to lock everything in before the first guests arrived.

This year I’m bringing that same attention to detail as one of the lead makeup artists at Woods of Terror in Greensboro. Can’t wait to help create the looks that will haunt the woods all season long.

Took the little monsters to Spirit Halloween in Fuquay-Varina on opening day and the animatronics this year are next-level. 👀

My 3-year-old started out wide-eyed and a little unsure (last year we had to make a quick exit), but the longer we stayed the braver he got — soon he was pointing out every moving skeleton and asking how they work. Meanwhile the 1-year-old just sat there grinning at every glowing eye and creaking door like it was the best show on earth. 🤣

Fun fact: most of those big animatronics run on simple air-pressure systems and motion sensors. The more you move around them, the more they “wake up.” That’s why hanging out a little longer usually turns fear into fascination.

We only browsed this trip — still have plenty of visits left as more locations open — but one thing’s clear: Augtober is officially here and spooky season has begun. 👻🎃
