The people God sends. 💜

When I opened Curl House salon, I didn’t do it alone.

God sent me Danita.

She started as my administrative assistant. Then my shampoo girl. Then my apprentice. And eventually, a licensed cosmetologist.

But somewhere along the way, she became so much more than any of those titles.

She traveled with me to hair shows, workshops, and speaking engagements. She worked behind the scenes, celebrated the wins, stayed through the challenges, and believed in Curl House long before it became what it is today.

For years, I thought God brought Danita into my life so I could mentor her.

Looking back, I realize He was using her to shape me, too.

She helped me become more patient, more selfless, and a better leader.

And somewhere along the way, she stopped being an employee and became family—the daughter I never had. 💜

Back in 2010, I left my full-time career to pursue natural hair.

For two years, I did hair right in my kitchen. 😂

Eventually, I knew it was time for something more, but I couldn’t find the right salon space.

So I prayed.

“Lord... where do I go?”

Not long after, I received a postcard about private salon suites being built just down the street from my house.

I walked through the construction and saw the one I wanted—the suite in the very front with the big window.

Two months later, it was mine. 💜

God heard a prayer nobody else knew I had prayed.

Looking back, I realize He wasn’t just giving me a salon. He was teaching me to trust His timing.

Sometimes, we want the answer right now. The growth right now. The healing right now.

But some things simply take time.
