Stylists! Looking for a new salon home? 👀

With so much going on in the world, sometimes a shift is needed to feel more in control of ourselves, what we carry, and how we navigate next steps in this unprecedented climate.

Parlor currently has openings for both customized commission hours or booth rental options. For people who want to either be part of a team or work more independently; both among a crew of forward-thinking and collaborative individuals that service all textures and all people since 2014.

We don’t really have many boxes here you need to fit into, but you must be open to learning about and supporting ALL hair textures 🙂‍↕️

DM us or Mahri Kneebone Jones for inquiries or more details ✨

While Parlor may have relocated earlier this year, our community foundations began in Richmond’s Jackson Ward and Art’s District neighborhoods. Friday was bittersweet as we spent our evening at Art 180’s final First Friday and art installation. A space that has been priceless for many because spaces like Art 180 rare. While we share the city’s heartbreak of losing such a pivotal piece of our community, it was heartening to see the outpouring of love given to the space and the wonderful art displayed. The minds, stories, and creations that came out of those walls has been from the perspective of some of our city’s most underserved yet brilliant artists. We will not forget.🧡

To ART 180 : Thank you for 27 years of allowing voices to be heard, art to be seen, and teaching that there is no one way to express yourself.

To know her is to love her and to be in awe. Not only is she our bold Maven Matriarch, Mahri is an extraordinary mother (to human, fur, and plant babes), skilled crafts- and businesswoman, dedicated mentor, and phenomenal daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Mahri instills so much of her knowledge, empathy, power, discernment, softness, and resilience into all willing to listen and to do the work. She creates a safe space for growth and evolution for all who enter Parlor and makes this world a better place just by existing.
⁣
Mahri, you are incomparable, irreplaceable, unf**kwithable, and deeply cherished - and we hope you feel every bit of it today (and every day). Thank you for being you and for being ours. We are all fortunate and thankful to have you in this world.

Unpopular opinion: curls aren’t a fad 🤷‍♀️ Over here, “the curl bubble” never popped; it just keeps getting bigger, more resilient, and floating along with us. Because curls, coils, and kinky hair existed before 2020.

Before we opened our doors in 2014, education of ALL textures was built into Parlor’s foundation. It was (and continues to be) essential that all textures, genders, age, races, religions can come in and feel welcomed, seen, and safe to get their hair done the way THEY want. It’s never been about following one method; it’s about how getting as much education as possible and incorporating it all to make a well-rounded stylist with a versatile clientele, who you can teach and encourage to wear their hair they way they want to see it.

Because the only one right way to do a hair is the way that makes you and your client the happiest 💛🌻

✨“The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.”✨

We spend every day grateful for the bright light that is to our team. Every year, we get the celebration of their birth to ease us into the next year. If you have ever sat in her chair - you already know the range of gifts she brings to a day. Lucky us.
⁣⁣⁣
May you all know the love, depth, + support of a human like this kind, powerful, determined, fiercely protective, hilarious Capricorn mama.
⁣⁣⁣
Love you, Shanti!🖤
