In biblical and theological language:

Sōma (σῶμα) is the Greek word most often translated as body in the New Testament.
It does not mean “just flesh” or “a shell you live in.”

It means, the whole embodied self, the body as animated, relational, expressive, the body as the place where life, worship, suffering, and obedience happen.

So when Paul talks about the soma, he’s not separating body from soul or spirit, he’s talking about the whole integrated person in lived, physical reality.

“Offer your bodies (sōma) as a living sacrifice…” (Romans 12:1)

Our whole bodies.
That’s not just posture or behaviour.
That’s nervous system, habits, breath, stress responses, sexuality, energy, presence, all of you.✨

A holistic approach isn’t new or new age, it’s God’s idea and therefore all credit (praise, glory and honour) belong to Him.✝️

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
