White skirts are all the rage this summer and you can’t beat an elastic waist for comfort! And a classic white skirt is something you can wear every summer!

I am wearing a skirt by Aritzia, a petite friendly brand. The skirt is an extra small and I believe it may be a midi, however on my 5 foot frame it’s more like a maxi.

The rise on this skirt can be of your choosing, I pulled mine up a little bit higher, and paired with a cropped blouse. But you could also tuck something in or wear it with a fitted tee and do a front partial tuck.

I take a scientific approach to color analysis and break it down into three steps:

Step 1: Determine a person's color temperature or hue. See my previous post on step 1 (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61577360001179)

Step 2: Identifies a person's color depth
Simply put, color depth determines the depth of color on a scale from light to dark.
Draping in grayscale (light, medium, dark) isolates the value dimension of color — the lightness or darkness — without interference from hue or chroma. Here’s why that matters:

1. It isolates value contrast
Color has three measurable attributes:
Hue (temperature: warm vs. cool)
Value (lightness vs. darkness)
Chroma (intensity: bright vs. muted)

By using grayscale, you remove hue and chroma entirely, allowing you to observe how the client’s skin, hair, and eyes interact with light and shadow. This reveals whether their palette needs higher contrast (darker values) or lower contrast (lighter values) to remain harmonious.

The best body types for the Shift Dress:

From the front, the silhouette of a shift dress is intentionally simple: a straight line from shoulder to knee that skims the body without clinging. Why the Back Can Look Awkward:
If you are an hourglass, triangle, or an inverted triangle, you may have too much curve for a shift dress. This is because the shift dress has no built‑in structure to manage curves, posture, or movement. You can see how this affects the fit from both the front and the back, making the dress style a poor fit for curvy women.

Shift dresses are perfect for Rectangle or Oval/Apple body shapes, and because they have no defined waist, they work well to camouflage a tummy or waist.
