Referencing Dunn & Bradstreet studies of small business failure rates among states, Catherine Clifford, a staff reporter for CNNMoney reported the following: “When it comes to small business success, California is the not-so-Golden state.” The Hair Merchant however, was blessed enough to experience success while others experienced the “not-so-Golden” side of California. Styling hair since she was
a teenager around the local neighborhood in Mississippi, Joshalin Trowel has been a licensed cosmetologist for 25+ years and a Sacramento resident for 30+ years. Air Force and CA Air National Guard, Joshalin Co-Owned The Hair Merchant along with her late husband, Richard Trowel. As Co-Owner & Cosmetologist, Joshalin along with her husband experienced 18+ years of success before implementing their exit strategy. Despite efforts to exit the business, Joshalin had clients continue to demand her expertise. Looking back in appreciation with a smile Joshalin states, “The business just won’t let me go. I still had clients trying to set up appointments with me despite exiting The Hair Merchant and becoming a faculty instructor with Federico Beauty Institute. The client demand from The Hair Merchant encouraged me to take my personal & professional growth down a new path in Joshalin’s Haircare.”
When not operating her business, Joshalin likes to read, sing in her church choir, spend time with family, exercise and support her community. In recognizing the importance of community, Joshalin’s Haircare implemented a program leveraging partnerships between community and business called Community CareTM. SPECIALTIES:
