I miss you deeply, but for the first time, my grief is no longer tangled with fear. There is solace in knowing your suffering has finally ended.

You were a refuge and a reckoning in my life. A love that shaped me, wounded me, protected me, and transformed me. Your limitations shaped mine, and I have stopped resenting that. We are all, in some way, the product of what was done to us before we had the language to name it. With time, I have learned to hold all of those truths at once, and to forgive you fully, without punishing either of us for them.

The love I had for you has no adequate description. I hope that in your final moment, you felt it, fully, and without question.

These past six years slowly opened me, but these past five months tore through everything I thought I had already healed, and asked me to begin again. Strangely, beautifully, that is where peace found me.

Healing does not require resolution. I can carry what is unfinished, what is unanswered, what still aches, and still grow. Still soften. Still become. Acceptance is not giving up. It is, I think, one of the most courageous choices a person can make.

I no longer need to make sense of everything. The unknown is becoming something I move through with curiosity rather than fear. With openness rather than resistance.

I am coming to be at peace with you, WZ.
