While most clients choose hairstrokes alone at the first session, many clients will proceed to add some shading at the touch up for a more filled and more defined look especially toward the arch and tail. There are gaps between the hairstrokes which if you don’t have enough natural hair to blend with them, for some clients that is a little bare. This is a pretty permanent procedure so I always encourage you to start with what you are comfortable with since each person’s view of “natural” can be very different. Doing touch ups to add is always easier than going through the long removal process that may not be able to remove completely 🥰💕.

While most clients request Hairstrokes at the first session, most clients end up liking MicroShading Combo brows a lot more. This gives better coverage and definition! But it’s always ok to start with less and what you are comfortable with since this is a very permanent procedure. Each person’s preference and view of “natural” are different so it’s always best to see at least one session healed on yourself before making the decision for more coverage if you are unsure (which can easily add with touch ups 🥰).

For my returning clients, microshading is the most popular option. This is when we add hairstrokes only to the front bulb of the brows and then fill the rest of the brows with shading. Majority of my returning clients find that they like it more when brows have more definition! For new clients who are unsure, it is always ok to start with hairstrokes to see how they healed first before adding shading. This is pretty permanent so going conservative is always ok!

My client initially had Ombre powder brows and came to me in 2023 to add hairstrokes. Now she’s back for her 3 years maintenance touch up to refresh her hairstrokes. This was day 4 healing stage for her. Some of her strokes already peeled off and usually take about a day to finish peeling then go through a very light stage before they resurface. Her lips are immediately after the session. Color will heal lighter and softer. 👄
