✨ LET’S TALK ABOUT SKIN LIFTING ✨

One of the most common things I’ve seen over the years as a brow artist is confusion around skin lifting. It can be alarming, but understanding why it happens is so important for both clients and brow artists.

A skin lift occurs when the very top layer of the skin is unintentionally removed during waxing. It can appear as a pink, shiny, or raw-looking patch and typically shows up immediately after the wax.

Some things that can make your skin more vulnerable to lifting include:

🚫 Retinol + retinoids
🚫 AHAs/BHAs & exfoliating products
🚫 Certain medications
🚫 Recent chemical peels or other treatments
🚫 Sun exposure
🚫 Compromised or sensitive skin

This is why what you’re using on your skin matters before your brow appointment. Always let your brow artist know about your skincare routine and any medications you’re taking so they can determine the safest method for your skin.

And if lifting does occur, waxing should stop immediately and an alternative method like tweezing may be used.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

- let your brows grow out
- avoid tweezing or trimming
- stop using any type of anti-aging or acne products anywhere on your face for 2 weeks prior to your appointment

DAY OF APPOINTMENT

- no sunburned or irritated skin
- keep brows un-trimmed & un-tweezed
- come in without any heavy brow makeup on

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

- keep brows dry for the first 24 hrs
- avoid steam, saunas, and heavy sweating
- no makeup/skincare on direct contact

24HRS LATER

- gently brush brows into place if needed
- avoid excessively washing brows (skin stain)
- apply any aftercare at night

It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since I started my journey as a brow artist. 🤍

When I look back, I’m filled with so much gratitude. What started as a passion for brows has grown into a career, a business, a community, and a huge part of who I am.

There have been so many chapters along the way—different jobs, different locations, new opportunities, challenges, risks, and moments when I had no idea where this journey would take me.

But more than anything, this journey has been about the people.

The clients who trusted me with their brows before they knew where this would all lead. The people who believed in my talent and gave me opportunities. The ones who encouraged me to take the next step, supported my dreams, referred their friends, trusted my knowledge, or simply showed up for me during an important chapter of my life.

So many of you have played a part in getting me to where I am today, whether you realize it or not.

I wanted to share a little bit about my 20-year journey—not just to celebrate where I am today, but to honor all of the people, experiences, and moments that helped shape the path along the way.

I am so, so grateful for every person I’ve met, every lesson I’ve learned, and every chapter that brought me here.

Here’s to 20 years of brows… and to all the people who made the journey so incredibly special. 🤍

Twenty years ago, I thought becoming a great brow artist was all about perfecting my technique.

What I’ve learned is that building a successful career goes far beyond shaping brows.

It’s about believing in yourself, setting boundaries, knowing your worth, taking care of your body, and never stopping learning.

These are the lessons I wish someone had shared with me when I was just starting out. If they can help even one new brow artist build a more confident and fulfilling career, then they’re worth sharing.
