Say what?! Gold tones keep a blonde looking bright! You heard that right. Here's why:

The way that gold or warm tones reflect the light from the sun will appear brighter than if you had a cooler/ash tone even if it's lifted to the same lightness whereas your cool or ashier tones absorb the light and it becomes more muted, and of course appears darker. In the photos above, my guest requested no warm tones (as you see in her before photo) at all which meant the blonde she did have would appear much darker. Her inspo pics (the last 2 pics) would have been super dark had we not adjusted slightly so that not only were we able to cancel out any warmth, but also keep highlights in the overall look to make her look really pop!

Even the tiniest amount of gold can help keep your blonde looking light and bright not to mention healthy looking.

Gold tones can be adjusted to your liking but ultimately, small amounts of gold will only show your blonde locks off even more plus... gold tones will last longer in the hair than cooler tones meaning... lower maintenance.

Are you considering a color adjustment like this but not sure where to even begin? Hit me up in my dm's and we can have a chat.

I know I talk a lot about color, so here I am with a huge PSA...

You have got to cut your hair! You just have to! If you want it to grow, it is a must!

"That's silly Rhedonda and makes no sense."

Let me tell you why:

First of all... no matter which way you slice it, a trim is a cut. A dusting is a cut. A cut is a cut. You get me. When I say you have to cut your hair, it does not mean that if you grew 3 inches that we have to cut 3 inches; as long as you follow my hair care regimens that I prescribe, not using heat tools without protective spray, protecting your hair from the sun, etc. So now that we've got that taken care of.

Second... split ends live on your ends. Let me say that for the people in the back. SPLIT ENDS LIVE ON YOUR ENDS. I know, silly right. So, while I realize growth is ideal, split ends will keep you from reaching any point of healthy length because they will continue to "split" up the hair shaft, and more will continue needing cut.

HOW TO PREVENT: follow my protocol for your hair regimen and always, always, always make sure to make time for that hair mask. A proper balance of hydration and protein is key here.

Third... check out this before and after. Those ends were not only dragging down her hair, but they look sad and very unhealthy. If they aren't kept in a healthy state when they are that far away from their nutrient source (our scalp) and we don't nourish it... it's got to go.

So how often do I need to cut ✂️?

4 times a year as long as.... you are following my protocols and following my recommendations on styling with heat tools and sun protection.

Not on a protocol yet?

Email me at [email protected] and I will personally send you my go-to list of products I'd recommend.

I know, it's strange with so many who only use one technique for doing hair, but here's my reasoning, and I'm sure you'll thank me once you experience it.

I don't use any one technique because there are so many factors that I have to take into consideration when you show me that inspo pic:

What hair texture do you have? What is the health of your hair? How dark/light is your hair? What can I imagine that you will realistically lift to without causing damage? Do you like/dislike warmth? Do you have a lot of regrowth? Etc., etc., etc.

There are so many factors that I look at prior to choosing my technique. If you have dark brown hair and really don't want to have excess warmth, I'm not going to open air paint your hair. If your hair tangles very easily, I'm definitely not going for teasylights. That would be super uncomfortable for you.

So, at the end of the day, I focus on your goal look and choose my technique according to what I feel will best get you there.

What should you bring for your next trip when it comes to your hair?

Many times, it can greatly depend on where you're going and what kind of climate it will have during the time of year during your travel. I have listed some things that I personally leave home without if I'm going to a tropical climate such as a cruise or flying to the Caribbean.

Some of these of course can be altered according to your dinner plans and how much you're allowed to pack. It also will be dependent on what may already be provided in your room (example would be that most hotel rooms and cruises provide blow dryers, which is why I would not bring one).

Is there anything on the leave at home list that you totally can't be without?

Can you believe that these are all the same head of hair?!

I know, super hard to believe, but I'm totally serious. Melissa loves to transition her color depending on the season without the worry of damaging her hair. How?

1st, we always have a consultation about what our next transition will mean, what the expectations will be for each session, and what the at home care will look like.

2nd, I'm honest and realistic. I would prefer to under promise and over deliver in the event that her hair can be processed longer, we can get more done during a session, etc. When we're making such huge transitions to the hair, I never want to expect the hair to do something when the hair itself has other plans for the session (because sometimes, it totally will).

3rd, I always, always, always pre-treat with K18, treat prior to glazing and treating again before styling. This will help to prep the hair for our session so that we can achieve the best results possible during that session without causing damage.

So, can you do it? Possibly. Probably. The best way to find out if you can undergo a massive color shift is by reaching out to do a digital consultation. I'll be realistic and honest with you just like I was with Taylor, so that we're on the same page with goals.

Are you ready? Reach out to me via email or dm and I'll get you started on your consultation right away!

Rhedonda, you keep using this word “dimension”, but what exactly does that mean? Can anyone have dimension? What is so great about it?

Such great questions girl! And you came to the right place to ask.

First of all, dimension is simply where we create variations of light and dark tones to create depth and movement so that the hair looks multi-tonal instead of a single, flat color. I do this with highlights, lowlights and so on to give your hair variation and make the lighter pieces really pop, unlike what a single color can do.

Can anyone have dimension? Absa-freakin-lutely! That is the best part about dimension. Blondes, redheads and brunettes can have it. Are you going grey or looking to blend in a little better? Add dimension! It works in so many different scenarios which is why it’s my go-to technique!

What’s so great about it? OMGNESS… one of the absolute best things about it is that you can go longer between appointments because, while creating dimension, I also endeavor to reduce harsh lines and regrowth lines so that you don’t have to worry about those pesky roots showing! What is another added bonus is that because it creates depth, it gives those with thin or fine hair an appearance of fuller, thicker hair. Both of these alone are a win-win in my book!

So, is adding or creating dimension right for you?

You can absolutely reach out to me (DM me if you’d like) and show me some current photos and some inspo photos and I can get you started in the process.

See you soon!!

xoxo

Still having issues with blow drying your hair? Can't work with your brush and blow dryer together? I do my best to blow dry but it still ends up frizzy? What am I doing wrong?

I totally get trying to work with a blow dryer when it's something unfamiliar can be difficult. I had a 💡 moment last week when a client and I were chatting about this very issue and it dawned on me... maybe you should try to invest in a dryer with a shorter nozzle.

Say what?

Seriously.... as you can see, the nozzle for my dryer is really long and that's without the concentration attachment, but that's how I like it. I also like a dryer that's super light so I am able to put it where I need it most and I don't need to worry how heavy it is. So my suggestion to you is to find one with a shorter nozzle so that is easier to maneuver even with the concentration attachment on it. Because let's face it, you need that attachment to avoid the frizz...

Ok Rhedonda, so what do you recommend?

So... besides the typical Dyson dryer that is very compact, it's quite pricey. My personal favorites would be powerdiva pro or pro blow dryer 2000 would be my go to dryers. They are light and compact for all of your drying needs + the prices are very reasonable in comparison.

✨ One head of hair, two elevated finishes.

On the left, lived‑in curls with romantic movement; on the right, a smooth, glossy blowout that feels effortlessly expensive. Each finish is customized to her color, cut, and lifestyle so she can go from seaside brunch to rooftop cocktails without missing a beat.
