Here's something that surprised me when I started digging into the research.
In one EEG study, participants were shown the same photos of faces — once in a room with a pleasant ambient scent, once without. The result? The exact same faces were rated as more attractive, more confident, and more memorable when a pleasant scent was present in the environment.
It gets more interesting.

In a separate study (Roberts et al.), researchers filmed people introducing themselves to a stranger — with the sound off. Half the participants wore a fragranced product, the other half wore an unscented placebo. Independent observers only saw body language — no scent, no audio.
The group wearing fragrance was rated as more confident and more attractive — simply based on how the scent appeared to affect their own self-assurance and nonverbal behavior.
Scent doesn't make you attractive like magic. It appears to change how you carry yourself — and people pick up on that confidence before they ever notice what you're wearing. ✨
