Recently a “natural” waxing studio opened their doors in North Scottsdale, and I couldn’t be more grateful to them for sending us all of their clients who react to their services with swelling, redness, irritation, welts, and lots of missed hair.

🫧Natural wax typically relies on ingredients such as pine rosin, beeswax, or other plant-derived resins. It can provide a strong grip, but natural rosins are also more likely to cause irritation or allergic contact dermatitis in sensitive clients.

🫧Synthetic wax uses lab-made resins and polymers. These formulas are often engineered to stay flexible, work at lower temperatures, and grip the hair while adhering less aggressively to the skin.

🫧As far as eco friendly goes, natural also doesn’t automatically mean sustainable.
🌲 Pine resin can come from responsibly managed forests, or damaging harvesting practices.
