My husband, James, has been on a mission to perfect his sourdough lately… which means I’ve become the happy recipient of all the sourdough discard because I just can’t stand to see it go to waste. 🤍

So naturally, I’ve been getting creative in the kitchen.

A few days ago, I asked you all in my Stories which treat you’d most like to see made here at The Shed, and these Honey Cinnamon Twists were the clear winner. So today was treat-making day!

The flavor is honestly so unique. The sourdough discard adds just enough tang to balance the sweet cinnamon filling and the vanilla cream cheese drizzle. And don’t even get me started on the pastry… this rough puff dough has the most incredible flaky texture that’s somewhere between a buttery croissant and a tender pie crust, and it absolutely has my heart. 🤎

Now… let’s talk about this first batch. 😂 They may not be the prettiest, but around here the first batch is always for my family. They’re my official taste testers and my R&D department. We learned an important lesson today: spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray unless you want your beautiful twists glued to the bottom. 🤦🏼‍♀️
