At first glance, this looked like a black-to-red transformation. During our consultation, I learned she had been a dimensional brunette just a few months before going dark.

My client also made it clear that she didn't want to use lightener during this appointment. After discussing her options and setting realistic expectations, we decided to start with a color remover instead.

Because every head of hair is different, I explained that color remover isn't guaranteed to remove all of the artificial pigment or lift evenly. Fortunately, her previous color history worked in our favor and gave us a great starting point for her new red.

A common misconception is that color remover can replace lightener. The truth is, it depends on your hair history and your end goal. If you're hoping to achieve a significantly lighter or brighter result, lightener is often still necessary to create the right canvas.

I’ve been getting some questions lately about where I’m working, so I wanted to hop on and give you all an update! I’m still providing services in Shelbyville at the same salon suite I've been in for the past 6 years—it's business as usual!
I’m also honored to be an instructor at Divinity School of Cosmetology in Louisville. While I don’t provide personal services there, I highly recommend checking out the student salon for amazing deals on facials, colors, and cuts—the future professionals there are fabulous!
