In person teacher training starts this fall!!!

This is a local, in person, comprehensive training for dedicated Pilates students, aspiring teachers, and movement professionals in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene/Inland Northwest area who are ready to take their next step.

We’ll study the Pilates method through movement, anatomy, client assessment, queuing, programming, and real teaching skills – with a steady, supportive format, designed for working adults.

Training begins October 6, 2026

A recent conversation with a young woman really stayed with me.
She shared that some of the messaging she sees around Pilates makes her feel like you need to be thin, young, or look a certain way to belong in the space
And it made me think about how much Pilates, and the way we present it, has changed.
When I opened my studio, social media didn’t exist, and most people barely knew what Pilates was. Today, Pilates is everywhere. And with that visibility comes responsibility for the messages that we send, intentionally or unintentionally.
Most of the people I work with are aging. They want to stay strong, move well, feel capable,, manage the changes that come with life, and feel good in their bodies.
There simply isn’t much room in my work for chasing an aesthetic.
For me, Pilates has always been about the whole person, their strength, mobility, confidence, resilience, connection, and creating a body that supports the life you want to live.
So I think it’s worth asking ourselves, as teachers and studio owners:
What are we communicating about who Pilates is for?
And I’d love to hear from you, whether you’re a teacher, studio owner or someone who practices Pilates:
How would you like to see Pilates represented on social media?

What this mentorship is and what it isn’t?

Teaching from the inside out, isn’t another certification, another list of exercises, or another course where you simply collect more information.

It’s a guided coaching experience for Pilates teachers who want support with parts of teaching that take time to develop: observation, confidence, decision-making, programming, and finding your own teaching voice.

Each month, we will explore real teaching questions, shared experiences, and the kinds of conversations that help you grow beyond the manual and into the teacher you are becoming.

The next mentorship begins this September

DM mentorship and I’ll send you the details.

This week I asked a few clients what they think makes a great Pilates teacher.

Here are some of their responses, and I promise, I did not tell them to describe me.😉

When I loved most about their answers is that they weren’t just about knowing exercise exercises. They are about listening, observing, adapting, encouraging, and helping someone feel supported and challenged.

And I think that’s where the real work of teaching lives.

A great teacher isn’t just leading someone through a movement. A great teacher is paying attention, making thoughtful choices, and helping the person in front of them feel seen.

This is the kind of teaching where explore and teaching from the inside out, my five month mentorship for Pilates teachers beginning this September.

DM “mentorship” if you’d like more details

Is this you?

You’re certified and teaching, but sometimes feel overwhelmed by programming, second-guess your choices, or wish you had more support?

Or maybe you’re early in your teaching career and simply craving fresh ideas, inspiration, and the perspective an experienced teacher as you continue to grow?

Teaching from the inside out is a five month online mentorship built around coaching, conversation, and real world teaching.

It’s a place to ask questions, work through challenges, sharpen your eye, expand your thinking, and develop more confidence in your own teaching voice.

If you’re looking for guidance, inspiration, and a little less figuring it out alone, DM me “mentorship”, and I’ll send you the details.

Creativity in the Pilates studio does not always mean inventing a new exercise.

Sometimes it means looking at a familiar, functional movement from different angles and asking: how can the equipment help this client understand it, feel it, and perform it with greater confidence?

In this session, I use the Cadillac to explore the squat through positioning, support, and gradual loading. We first established the shape of the movement, then added spring assistance, so she could build strength while maintaining the organization of her spine, pelvis, hips, knees, and feet.

The wider stance gave her more room to descend and made the depth more accessible. As her strength and understanding improved, I can reduce the assistance, adjust her stance, and gradually increased challenge.

This is my favorite kind of creativity: not movement for the sake of novelty, but thoughtful problem-solving that helps a client feel more capable in their body

Because the work we do in the Pilates studio should ultimately support how our clients move through their everyday lives.

How do you use the Pilates equipment to teach functional movement?

There is nothing better than hearing directly from a student who has just come through the process.

In this video, I’m chatting with one of my students who recently passed her PSC reformer Matt exam about her experience in the program and what stood out most to her along the way. She shares how the depth of the work and the anatomy portion were some of the most surprising and meaningful parts of her training.

This is what I love about the PSC program, it goes far beyond learning exercise exercises. It teaches teachers, how to truly understand the body, the method, and the Y behind the work

If you have been thinking about teacher training, this is a beautiful glimpse into what makes this program so special.

Teaching from the Inside Out.

Teaching Pilates is real time decision-making.

You’re not just running a workout, you’re observing, prioritizing, adjusting, and modifying on the fly… While working with real bodies and real nervous systems.

Most of this gets learned after certification and usually ALONE. That’s why I created TEACHING FROM THE INSIDE OUT - A five month mentorship for Pilates teachers, who want to sharpen their eye, deepen their queuing, and feel confident programming and modifying in real sessions.
