“Waffle face” after a 532 nm laser? 🧇 Yep—it’s a thing.
That raised, grid-like pattern isn’t just redness. It’s localized edema from a histamine response, something we commonly see after 532 nm treatments.
Because the laser pulses are delivered in a patterned sequence, that swelling can temporarily mirror the spot placement—creating the very recognizable “waffle” appearance.
It can look dramatic immediately after treatment, but it’s typically transient and settles as the histamine response and swelling resolve.
Just another example of why understanding expected tissue response vs. an adverse event matters when working with lasers.

Warning: she is extremely competent, chronically curious, and constitutionally incapable of leaving “good enough” alone.
She will ask a question, understand the answer, then ask three more questions until she understands the physics, the business model, the legal implications, and how we could make a better training program about it.
She has the energy of someone who can discuss laser-tissue interaction, compensation structures, regulatory compliance, branding, and an Instagram caption before lunch—and somehow have strong opinions about the font by 1:00.
Do not casually say, “That’s just how we’ve always done it.”
She will investigate.
There will be citations.
There may be a spreadsheet.
She is warm, funny, and genuinely wants people around her to succeed—but unfortunately for you, she also has standards. If something is inefficient, clinically questionable, poorly explained, badly branded, or unnecessarily stupid, she will notice it almost immediately.
She has a particular weakness for turning one reasonable idea into an entire ecosystem. A treatment becomes a protocol. The protocol becomes a branded system. The system needs a decision tree. The decision tree needs a graphic. The graphic needs to be black, gray, gold, and taupe. And now we’re discussing whether the name adequately communicates the patient outcome.
Also, never give her a new laser without expecting her to learn enough about it to eventually explain it better than the person who sold it.
She operates at the dangerous intersection of clinician brain + educator brain + business brain + “I could probably build this myself” brain.
Come prepared. Know your s**t. Don’t oversell anything. And for the love of God, don’t use the word “magical” when there is a perfectly good mechanism of action.

I’ll admit it… I was skeptical. As someone who works in this industry and sees everything, it takes a lot to impress me. But after just one treatment, I’m genuinely seeing visible lifting, smoother texture, and better jawline definition — and we’re only getting started.
