💗Meet Rebecca💗

Rebecca is one of our very own South County members and she is a Breast Cancer survivor💪🏻.

“In early 2021 I decided to make my health and fitness a priority and tried Burn Boot Camp. I loved it! I had my yearly doctor exam in late January and had felt and small lump in my left breast but my doctor didn’t say anything about it. Fast forward 6 weeks and I still felt it so I called for another appointment. They brushed it off due to my age and assumed it was a cyst, however still agreed to an ultrasound. Even the ultrasound tech told me it was nothing and I shouldn’t be worried. They didn’t even do a mammogram because they were so sure it was nothing. Finally they agreed to do a biopsy just to be sure. 72 hours later on March 17th, 2021 (St. Patrick’s day has a new meaning to me now) my world was completely turned upside down when I was diagnosed with Stage II HER2+ breast cancer at 34 years old.

Nothing can prepare you for that. After lots of tears and prayers I knew I had no option but to fight with all my might for my two boys who were seven and five at the time. I had two tumors in my left breast and it had also spread to my lymph nodes. I had 6 rounds of chemo, 17 rounds of targeted therapy, a double mastectomy, 28 rounds of radiation and finally reconstruction surgery. After all of this I was declared NED (no evidence of disease)! The last year and a half has been the most challenging time of my life. I was not only pushed physically but mentally as well. I am so happy to be healthy, on the other side of that journey and back at Burn full time! My body has been through a lot and I owe it to myself and my boys to stay healthy and active!

I can’t stress enough to be your own advocate! You know your body better than anyone and if something feels off then say something. If no one will listen then go find another doctor. My story could be a lot different if I hadn’t called my doctor back 6 weeks later.

My husband has been my rock and my biggest cheerleader throughout this journey. Without him, friends and family I wouldn’t have gotten through this with as much grace as I did.”

Tomorrow is the last day! 😢 We will be crying & laughing day!! We will be serving all the yummy drinks you all love while supplies last!!

2 more days of this....my emotions are everywhere & hiding the crying is hard! So if you see me in tears, I'm okay everything's fine!!! This place has been my 2nd home for almost 2 years and it's going to be hard saying goodbye!

Come see me tomorrow 7am-2pm! I will have a delivery to run at 11am so if you see a note on the door I will be back in no time to deliver to one more time!!!
