Wow, what a journey. I'm glad I didn't go into copywriting and editing as a career! Whew!
My first book is ready for its final edit before publishing. The second book is almost complete (95%) and I have a list of 5 more topics on which to write. The store should be open by next month with merch ready to go.
Ahhh the sound of progress.

What should we dive into next? Would you like me to start a series on common food preservation, storage techniques, or Depression-era recipes that don't require refrigeration? Let me know in the comments!
We Sold Our Knowledge for Convenience - Healthy Life Creative Life We Sold Our Knowledge for Convenience We used to grow up learning skills that prepared us to care for ourselves and our families. One of the reasons it pays to stay healthy is so I can still do work like this. I transformed the finish on the armoire and dresser to match the rest of their MBR furniture. The mirror frame was also completed as was a large clock with an orange wooden frame that is yet to be placed back in the room.
At 66 and I'm still bending, stooping, and crawling on the floor scooting around. The drawer fronts were completed in the garage. I'm no athlete but I still do pretty good.

It’s official—the doors to The Haven are starting to open! 🌿✨
My very first digital book, The Non-Toxic Transition Guide, is officially complete and ready for you to download soon! This workbook is truly a labor of love, designed to help you step-by-step as you create a natural, eco-friendly, and sustainable home environment.
Taking control of what comes into our homes is a journey, and I wanted to build the practical resource I wish I’d had when I first started focusing on plant-based, holistic housekeeping.
Progress can be a little slow when you're doing it all yourself from scratch—from the research right down to the design and formatting—but there is absolutely nothing more satisfying than seeing it come to life.
This is just the beginning! I am already hard at work on two more books (including a deep dive into the culinary and cultivation secrets of herbs and spices!). As soon as those are finished, I’ll be launching my very first official catalog items in the store.
Keep an eye on The Marketplace because my first items will be posted very soon!

🌿 Spice Spotlight: The Comforting & Cleansing Power of Sage
If there is one herb that perfectly captures the essence of cozy, handcrafted kitchen traditions, it is sage (Salvia officinalis). Known for its velvety leaves and comforting aroma, it is a timeless favorite for elevating rich dishes and supporting daily wellness.
Here is how this beautiful botanical brings both soul to your cooking and vitality to your body:
Why It Works for Meats
Sage possesses a bold, warm, and slightly peppery flavor profile with subtle hints of mint and lemon. Highly aromatic, it has a natural affinity for richer, more robust meats, helping to cut through their density and balance out any natural sweetness.
Best For: Pork, turkey, homemade sausage blends, duck, and roasted chicken.
Kitchen Tip: For an incredible texture contrast, fry whole fresh sage leaves in butter until crisp, then use them to top seared pork chops or roasted root vegetables. Or, mix rubbed dried sage directly into your ground meat blends.
How Sage Supports the Body
Sage’s botanical name comes from the Latin word salvere, meaning "to heal"—a nod to its long history in traditional wellness:
Cognitive Focus & Memory: Sage is celebrated for clearing mental fog. Studies suggest it protects key neurotransmitters responsible for memory, supporting cognitive clarity and alertness.
Soothing Throat & Oral Care: Packed with natural antiseptic and astringent properties, sage is an incredible ally for oral health. Steeping sage leaves into a warm tea makes a phenomenal throat rinse that comforts seasonal irritation.
Rich in Cellular Antioxidants: Sage is loaded with protective plant compounds like rosmarinic acid. These antioxidants work diligently to neutralize free radicals, lowering oxidative stress to support healthy cellular aging.
✨ Do you prefer using fresh sage leaves from the garden, or the traditional rubbed dried style?

🌶️ Spice Spotlight: The Warm & Earthy Magic of Cumin
If you want to bring a rich, deeply satisfying depth to your kitchen creations, cumin (Cuminum cyminum) is an absolute cornerstone. It does far more than just flavor a dish—it anchors it with a rustic, savory complexity.
Here is how this ancient spice elevates both your meals and your well-being:
Why It Works for Meats
Cumin is intensely aromatic with a warm, earthy, and slightly nutty flavor profile. It has a unique ability to cut through the richness of heavier meats, highlighting their savory qualities without masking their natural flavors.
Best For: Ground beef, lamb, pork carnitas, skirt steak, and shredded chicken.
Kitchen Tip: To unlock its full potential, toast the ground spice slightly in a dry pan or in hot oil for about 30 seconds before adding your meat. It’s the secret to incredible chili, taco seasonings, and Mediterranean marinades.
How Cumin Supports the Body
Beyond the kitchen, cumin has a long history in traditional wellness as a warming spice that actively supports daily vitality:
Excellent Digestive Aid: Cumin keeps the digestive system running smoothly by stimulating the production of enzymes and bile essential for breaking down food. It acts as a natural carminative, easing occasional bloating and gas after a heavy meal.
Packed with Antioxidants: Cumin seeds contain high amounts of plant compounds like flavonoids and phenols. These work to neutralize free radicals, helping to reduce oxidative stress and protect cellular health over time.
Natural Metabolic & Iron Support: Used traditionally to support a healthy metabolism, cumin is also an excellent dietary source of iron, contributing to healthy red blood cell production and steady daily energy levels.
✨ Swap standard pre-made seasoning packets for a pinch of toasted cumin, sea salt, and fresh garlic to bring back the true soul of handcrafted living.
