Hermann Oak Leather

Our base tannage is geared towards producing heavy equestrian focused leathers. We make everything at full thickness, and split down from there with the machine in this video. Our splitting team runs sides through one at a time, gauging each before moving on to ensure consistent and accurate weight.

We’ve been tanning leather in this yard the same way for 145 years. Traditionally tanned, continuously improving.

Here’s a little rundown on our standard English Bridles!

Green Heritage 1881 is another favorite of ours, and we don’t make a whole lot of it. We’ve got a little on hand at the moment, so we figured we’d show it off some!

There’s a common misconception about the different grades of Hermann Oak being of different levels of quality. Our grading system simply classifies the level of cosmetic variations within a side, and depending on the project, a “lower” grade may offer the most bang for your buck. If you’re doing a lot of tooling, or if you don’t need loads of contiguous clean square footage, a C or a D grade may be the best option for you!
