Artist Statement:
My greatest inspiration is Mother Nature. As a Naturalist, I examine my relationship with the natural world, observing its beauty, analyzing both its power and humanity’s connection and relation to it. Like nature itself, my seascapes, skyscapes and portraits hint at beauty while immersing the viewer in dark, fantastical visual environments that at first feel familiar but can turn toward the peculiar. The sensory explosion of colors, lights, and textures in my work creates for me a sense of calmness that I hope to bestow upon the viewer.
I particularly delight in using felines and birds as a subject. Having devoted more than twenty-five years to feline rescue, I paint kitties in a style that evokes sympathy toward cats in need. As a dedicated cat-mom, I use my work to bring attention to the relationship between felines and their human counterparts who act as their Kahu, a Hawaiian word that has many meanings, among them guardian, protector, steward, beloved, or attendant.
While I’ve had a lasting love affair with Oil paint, however, in recent years I’ve been working in Gouache as an alternative to the long drying process that oils require.
In addition to my Bachelor of Fine Arts, I hold a degree in Botany, which I use in my art practice by studying floral design. Through my arrangements, cut and living, I explore beauty by emphasizing and contrasting each flower’s unique characteristics through their spatial relationship to each other and to the design as a whole.
Overall, my work encourages the viewer to slow down, sit back, observe, and appreciate the nature around them.

We would like to welcome the newest member of the hairdressing team, Whitney! She starts taking clients August 18th, and is bookable online now. We can't wait for you all to meet her!.......
Hi, I’m Whitney. I’ve spent over 30 years behind the chair helping people express who they are through beautiful, personalized hair. What began as a career has become my life’s passion—blending artistry, precision, and genuine human connection.
From soft, natural, lived-in looks to bold, vibrant, statement-making color, my goal is always the same: to create hair that feels authentically you. I believe every guest has a story, and the best results come from truly listening.
As a transgender woman, I’m deeply passionate about creating a welcoming, inclusive space where people feel seen, valued, and confident in their authentic selves. I lead with my heart in everything I do, and it’s an honor to be part of each client’s journey.
Outside the salon, I love cooking, advocating for human rights, and drawing inspiration from music and art. At home, I’m happiest with my chocolate Lab, Bella. I can’t wait to meet you.

Staff night out. We hung out in Ybor for dinner and a show. We went to see the new musical from Ava Rice The Eighth Deadly Sin. We laughed, we loved the costumes, the Glitter, and the show was wonderfully orginal & nostalgic all at the same time. We love our Tampa creative community. Go see Ava Rice if you love musicals, camp, a great story and Tampa.
They even had punny sweets to purchase and a raffle we won a t-shirt.
