Ok folks, I'm back from my cruise and ready to accept some bookings. Check out my web page and book a 60 or 90 minute massage. www.Theroyalgent.com

Have shoulder pain? Comment “Shoulder” and we will send you a free series to help reduce pain and improve mobility for a variety of shoulder issues.

There are 4 rotator cuff muscles. This series will strengthen all of them, massage 2 of them, and stretch 1 of them.

The infraspinatus and teres minor are on the back of the shoulder and externally rotate the shoulder joint. This group of muscles is often weak for many people. Pain here can feel like radiation down the back of the arm. Strengthening this tissue can be a huge relief.

The subscapularis is on the front side of the shoulder blade. Parts of it can be massaged, but for temporary relief, I find a stretch to be much more accessible. This muscle gets assistance from the pec major when rotating the arm internally, so internal rotation of the shoulder is often much stronger than external rotation.

The supraspinatus is on the top of the shoulder blade deep under the upper trapezius. It is difficult to massage and stretch. It can be done, but for simplicity, there is only a strengthening exercise here. Inflammation in this muscle is often the reason people experience pain on the front/top of the shoulder… “impingement.”

Whenever we feel a “pinch” sensation, we want to avoid the thing that is causing it. So, if any of these exercises cause a pinch, reduce the range of motion or speed. If that doesn’t resolve the pinch sensation, avoid that particular movement for now - reintroduce it later when inflammation reduces.

Massage isn't just a luxury or wellness trend. It's the oldest form of healthcare. Long before prescriptions, imaging, and surgery people healed with touch. In Acient China, massage was written into medical textbooks over 4000 years ago, used to treat pain, illness and emotional imbalance. In ancient Ayurveda, massage wasn't optional, it was preventative medicine, used support immunity, circulation, and longevity. Ancient Egyptians tombs show images of therapists using their hands to treat injuries. Massage was part of formal medical care. Hippocrates "The Father Of Medicine" said: "The physician must be experienced in many things, but assuredly in rubbing." Somewhere along the way massage was seen as a luxury. But historically, it was seen as healthcare first. Today we finally understand how massage works.: Not because we break up tissue, but because we influence the nervous system, circulation and pain-pathways. And let's be clear, modern western medicine is essential. Massage isn't here to replace doctors, diagnostics or treatments. It works along side them. Massage has always been a part of healing, but it was never meant to stand alone. We believe in patterning with modern medicine, not replacing it. Ethical bodywork means knowing your lane. We don't diagnose. We don't replace medical care. We support the body's healing capacity within a larger healthcare system.

Good friends of mine are selling their Historic Avondale home near Jacksonville, Florida. If you're looking for hight end finishes, move in ready home then this one is for you. Water is at the end of the street and they even put in a brand new pool last year. This is far enough North to avoid the horrible Florida storms but warm enough in the winter to enjoy the good life.
